When I just moved to Los Angeles（洛杉矶）, I didn't have a car.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}, but I wanted to prove（证明）them wrong.

    I asked my neighbor, Mrs. White, to take me to the bus station in the center of the city, so I could try taking the bus home.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}. When I got there, I went inside and got a bus timetable（时刻表）. I looked at the map and worked out that I needed to take three buses to get home.

    I bought the tickets and went outside to wait at the bus stop for the Number 8 bus. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. I gave my ticket to the bus driver and took a seat. At the right stop I got off. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. I waited and waited. A man was also waiting for the same bus. He said that it wasn't unusual for the bus to be late. Half an hour later, it finally came. To make the matter worse, the third bus broke down halfway and the driver had to fix it. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. So when I finally got home, I was very tired. Maybe getting a car in Los Angeles wasn't such a bad idea!

Schuylerville High School students have a wide range of interests, which are reflected by the number of clubs and organizations in which our pupils participate. Here are some of the most popular clubs.

Environmental Club

Open to students in grades 9—12 Advisor: Mrs. Flores

The High School Environmental Club is open to all students interest increasing environmental awareness throughout the school. Activities include recycling, environmental competitions, volunteering with green schools and outdoor events. This run student club collects and recycles paper products throughout the school building.

Freshman Class

Open to students in grades 9—10 Advisor: Mr. winslow

The freshmen class participates in several activities throughout the year to raise money for the class account. The class officers meet once a month to discuss business that affects the entire class. All members of the freshman class are encouraged to participate in some type of community service during the year.

Literary magazine

Open to students in grades 10—12 Advisor: Mr. Sgambati

Members of the Literary Magazine collect, edit and often contribute to the body of student work. Literary Magazine meetings will also give students the opportunity to share and receive feedback on the creative pieces that they're working on, as well as the chance to learn about writing practices and strategies.

Mock Trial Team

Open to stude…s in grades 11—12Advisor: Mrs. Lewis

Mock Trial is an after—school activity that helps students develop useful knowledge about the law. Students play out all the roles and use general rules of evidence and fact explanations in a school court. They will work with a real lawyer and an advisor to further understand the court process.

The traditional Chinese lunar calendar (阴历) divides the year into 24 solar terms (节气)．Major Snow (大雪) is the 21st solar term of the year. Here are three things you should know about Major Snow. 

I'm Lin Peng. I'm a student in Guangming Middle School. When I was in Grade Seven, I always did badly in English. And I even got poor grades {#blank#}1{#/blank#} English tests. That made me feel very sad. I wanted to give up at that time, but my parents and my teacher encouraged me to work hard. I was told by {#blank#}2{#/blank#} not to lose hope. My teacher gave me some suggestions. She asked me to speak as much as possible. She said, "The more you speak it, the{#blank#}3{#/blank#} your English will become. Don't be shy and don't be afraid of {#blank#}4{#/blank#} mistakes. " Now I am interested in English. And I put my heart into English study all the time. Last week, I took part in an English {#blank#}5{#/blank#} held by our school, and I won the first prize. How proud I was! Hope is always there, in our hearts. So just keep it in mind and our dreams will come true one day. 

One day, a hunter went hunting with his dog. He saw a rabbit running out of a bush not far in front and 1 raised his gun to shoot. The rabbit was hurt. It ran away 2 . The hunter waved to the dog to 3 it. The well- trained dog rushed like an arrow, running very fast and full of 4 .

The rabbit ran so desperately that it 5 not to have been hurt at all. However, the dog was surprisingly left behind. Gradually, the dog was losing sight of the rabbit. At last when the dog 6 empty- handed, the hunter was angry and blamed it," How 7 ! Unable to catch an injured rabbit! No supper for you." Feeling sad, the dog tried to explain for 8 ," Though I didn't catch it, I had done my best."

When the rabbit got home, all the other rabbits were surprised at its 9 . They were dying to ask," How did you 10 to run away when the dog almost caught you? It's unbelievable! " The frightened rabbit answered," The dog would only be blamed for not catching me at most,11 all it did was to do its best. The situation was completely different 12 me. I would surely lose my life 13 I was caught. I had to go all out(竭尽全力)!"

I had an accident with my plane in the Desert of Sahara (撒哈拉沙漠) 6 years ago. One morning, I heard a 1 . It said, "Could you please draw me a sheep?"

I looked 2  all around me and saw a very very small person. "Who are you?" I asked. However, he seemed not to 3  my question. 

"Could you please draw me a sheep?" he asked again. I was not good at drawing,4  I didn't want to say no. Then I drew a picture for him—a picture of a boa constrictor (大蟒蛇) eating a(n)5 . 

"No! I don't want an elephant inside a boa constrictor. It is very 6  and I'm afraid of it! I need a sheep!"

Can you 7  how surprised (惊讶的) I was at his words? Because people around me thought the 8  was a hat when I first drew it at 6! So I drew the 9  picture—a sheep. He looked at it carefully and said, "No. This sheep doesn't 10  so healthy. Please draw me another one."

So I drew the third picture. "This is not what I wanted 11 . This is a goat (山羊), not a sheep."

Then I did the fourth drawing. "This one is too 12 . I want a younger sheep. I hope it can live for long."

After hearing his words, I 13  my patience (耐心). Then I drew a box and told him, "This box is for 14  sheep. And your sheep is in it."

"Great! The sheep will not eat my rose," he said 15  a happy voice. That is how I met the little prince.
