SUNSHINE SCHOOL TENNIS LESSONS

Term 4—Grade 1—6

All the tennis lessons will start from October 10th.

The cost is $136.00 for 8 lessons. Classes missed because of rain will be made up (补上). All the cost must be paid at the first lesson.

★TENNIS MEETING

A meeting will be held at lunchtime, Tuesday October 9th, the day before the course begins, on the school tennis courts (网球场) to let you know the lesson time. Please ask your child to be there.

★FREE TENNIS RACQUET (球拍)

All new students will receive a free tennis racquet when joining for the first time.

★NOTICE

The cost can be paid in cash (现金) or by card.

Let us know the time your child cannot take the lessons. And it's impossible for us to give lessons at your requested time.

A. February 14 is European Valentine's Day. It is for lovers. People celebrate the festival to honor a man named Valentine. He helped lovers get married though the king didn't allow people to do that in ancient Rome. 

B. World Water Day is on March 22 every year. It tells people water is important to humans. And it calls on people to do something to protect clean water and save water in everyday life and work. Today many groups celebrate the day. 

C. April Fool's Day is the first day of April. It is a "for-fun-only"holiday. People today usually play small tricks on friends on this day. 

D. Mother's Day is celebrated on different days in many parts of the world,most commonly in the months of March or May. It is a day for us to show our thanks to our mothers. 

E. Christmas is a special holiday. And it's one of the greatest western holidays. It is similar to the Spring Festival in China. There is always a Christmas tree in each home. 

F. The International Day of Forests comes on March 21 every year. And the first International Day of Forests was held on March 21,2013. People celebrate the day in order to encourage everyone to protect the forest

{#blank#}3{#/blank#}To celebrate this festival,Lily and her parents,usually decorate their home with colorful paper,green leaves and beautiful greeting cards. And they also decorate a tree with colored lights and glass balls.

In May, 16-year-old Alktur Dibat became the youngest Chinese climber to reach the top of Qomolangma (珠穆朗姆峰) . 

The boy is from Urumqi, Xinjiang.  He arrived at the South Base Camp in Nepal on April 15.  He spent 28 days getting used to (习惯) the new place and then started his climb with about 10 other good climbers. 

On May 19, Alktur finally reached the top of the world, breaking the record set last year by Xu Zhuoyuan, a girl from Hunan.  Reaching the top of Qomolangma is my biggest dream.  I feel very happy that I made my dream come true, Alktur said.  During his climb, he sometimes felt terrible, but it didn't stop him from keeping going. 

Alktur is a student at Urumqi No.  13 Middle School.  He started to learn rock climbing at 7, skiing at 8, and ice climbing at 9.  He climbed his first mountain with his father when he was 10.  In July last year, they climbed a high mountain called Muzta Ata in Xinjiang.  In February this year, Alktur climbed Siguni Mountain in Sichuan. 

To climb Qomolangma, Alktur ran 10 kilometers every morning and took special training classes on weekends.  He also took a training class organized by the Chinese Mountaineering Association. 

Alktur now wants to climb the other highest mountains.  He loves the feeling of climbing and wants to keep trying. 

In the northern Thailand, there's an attractive jungle (丛林) where you can sleep right in the middle of an elephant group. I tried it, and it was life-changing.

It's been my longtime wish to get up closer to the elephants. When I discovered the Jungle Bubbles, I was so excited that I jumped at the chance to spend sundown to sunup with elephants as my nighttime neighbors.

At 5 p. m., I was led along a stone path, and there they were: the Jungle Bubbles. There was complete privacy(隐私) with a wooden fence(栅栏), and all I saw and heard were elephants. It seems elephants never sleep. Well, they actually get two or three hours a night, and according to scientists, they may lie down for an hour every few days. Nothing is more interesting than watching elephants closely for such a long time.

When my guide left, it was 5:30 pm. It was still warm, and the light was golden. It was a perfect moment for pictures! I was as giddy as a kid opening presents on Christmas morning when I took pictures of the elephants standing just a few yards away. It was amazingly relaxing here. The only thing I had to do was watch elephants. I took a beer and watched them in the evening playing in a mud hole.

When the sun was down, I sat in the dark listening to the elephants eating leaves and insects buzzing(嗡嗡叫). The stars began to appear in the sky, this surely qualified as one of the most peaceful places on Earth.
