Scientists have foundthat all people yawn. Babies start to yawn even before they are born. When ababy is inside its mother, he or she yawns. When young children are about oneyear old, they start to yawn when they see others yawning. That's why scientiststhink yawning is contagious.

But why do we yawn?Well, scientists are not really sure. Some think we yawn because we feel bored.Others believe yawning has something to do with breathing. When there is toomuch carbon dioxide (CO₂) in our bodies. our bodies will tell the brains(大脑)to breathe deeply. That causes a big yawn.In 2007, scientists said people yawned to cooldown their brains. Thesescientists found people yawned more often if they were warmer than others.

Scientists are tryingto find out why yawning happens and why it is so contagious. But they are onlysure that when one person yawns. everyone else nearby wants to yawn, too.

Do you know which social app is popular with Chinese young people now? "Short videos"are certainly the most popular. A large number of young people use Tik Tok(抖音) and Kuaishou. They think it is fun to share their lives by short videos, while others have other purposes as well.

A 12－year－old user named Elsa has about 2.7 million fans on Tik Tok. The girl has shared her dancing studies on Tik Tok since last July. One of the videos won her about one million fans."I feel really glad to share happiness with people by short videos, " said Elsa.

To some other young people, they use short videos to have a quick look at the hot programmes. "Because I don't like to spend many hours watching a whole programme, I hate waiting for a programme to end, and I prefer to watch short videos of wonderful parts of hot programmes, " said Wang Zhihao.

However, some young people feel bored with short videos."Killing time is the main reason for me to watch short videos, and many short videos are almost the same, so I think they are not so useful or interesting. What's more, I really don't like the videos about odd and dangerous things, " said Wen Nan, another college student.

Recently, something else has appeared. Some videos tell people what products are worth buying. Some short videos even sell bad products, and it is hard for customers to get their money back. So we should think twice before we want to buy the products by short videos.

Jo was the first to wake. She remembered her mother's promise, and, putting her hand under her pillow(枕头), drew out a little red-covered book. She loved it. She woke Meg up and asked her to see what was under her pillow. A green-covered book appeared. Then Beth and Amy woke, to find their little books also. 

"Girls, " said Meg seriously, "Mother wants us to read and love these books, and we must begin at once. I shall read a little every morning, for I know it will do me good. "

And then they opened the new books and read. The rooms were very quiet, and the winter sunshine shone in to touch the serious faces with a Christmas greeting. 

"Where is Mother?" asked Meg, as she ran down to thank her for their gifts, half an hour later. 

"Some poor men come for help, and Mrs. March went straight off to see what was needed, " replied Hannah, who was considered more as a friend than a servant. 

"She will be back soon, so we must get everything ready, " said Meg, looking over the presents which were collected in a basket, ready to be given to their mother at the proper time. "Why, where is Amy's bottle of cologne(古龙香水)?" she wondered. 

"She took it out a minute ago, " replied Jo. 

"There's Mother. Hide the basket, quick!" cried Jo, as door opened, and steps sounded in the hall. 

Amy hurried in, and looked rather ashamed(羞愧的) when she saw her sisters all waiting for her. 

"Where have you been, and what are you hiding behind you?" asked Meg, surprised to see that lazy Amy had been out so early. 

"You see, I felt ashamed of my present, so I ran round the corner and changed the little bottle for a big one and I gave all my money for it; and I'm truly trying not to be selfish any more. "

Another bang(砰砰作响) of the street door sent the girls to the table. 

"Merry Christmas, Marmee! Thank you for our books; we love them, " they said together. 

"Merry Christmas, little daughters! I'm glad you like the books. But I want to say one word before we sit down. Not far from here lies a poor woman with a little new-born baby. They were suffering hunger and cold. My girls, will you give them your breakfast as a Christmas present?"

They were all unusually hungry, having waited for nearly an hour, and for a minute no one spoke; only a minute, for Jo said, "I'm so glad you came before we began!"

 Three years ago, I am just three months away from finishing my degree from San Diego State University. After almost ten terms of schooling, I find online instruction to be such a good way to receive an education. 

 The first reason for this is its flexibility(灵活性). With online classes, I have been able to balance my schoolwork, job, after-school activities, community service and social life. In a traditional classroom setting, students are asked to have classes, take tests and meet together for their course work at a set time and place. However, online instruction allows students from wherever they want to comfortably complete their tasks within a specifically given time. 

 Also,     ▲     . During my online study, I have time with my love for music production, reading, writing and exercise. The convenience of my online schooling helped me to get satisfaction from my life while also allowing me to keep a healthy routine. 

 More effort is required in E-learning, however. When I began this educational lifestyle, I quickly came to the understanding that self-discipline(自律能力) was what was going to matter the most if one wished to succeed. 

 Finally, online education can help us to prepare for the coming future of technology and it will become the standard for many things as we move forward. Why not work to accept this reality as soon as we can?

 The lessons learned through online classes can lead students to endless opportunities. E- learning has helped students strengthen their sense of self-discipline, as well as their time- management, flexibility, and communication skills. These will only make them more skillful in the future.
