Anna's coat is too small. She goes shopping with her mother on Sunday. She wants to buy a new coat. They go into a clothing shop first (首先). Anna finds a green coat in the clothing shop. She likes it very much. She tries it on, but it's too small for her. She wants a big one, but the big one is not green. She isn't happy.

Then she wants to go to another (另一个) shop to have a look. Then they find a new shop. The shop is big. There they see many kinds of coats in different colors and sizes (尺码). Anna tries on a green one. It looks nice on her. Anna is very happy. She takes it for fifty yuan. 

Dogs are known for their sense of smell. They can find missing people and things. Now a study shows that the animal can even find bladder cancer（膀胱癌）.

Cancer cells can produce chemicals with unusual smells. Scientists think dogs have the ability to smell these smells, even in very small amounts, in urine （尿）.

For example, a dog showed great interest in the growth of its owner's legs. The man was later found to have skin cancer. Carolyn Willis and some scientists trained different kinds of dogs for the experiment. The study used urine collected from bladder cancer patients （病人）, from people with other diseases and from healthy people. Each dog was tested 8 times. In each test there were 7 examples for the dog to smell. The dog should show the one from a bladder cancer patient by lying down next to it.

Their results later appeared on the British Medical Journal. In all, 36 bladder cancer patients and 108 other people attended. During the training, all the dogs even found cancer in a person who had been tested healthy before the study. Carolyn Willis said dogs could help scientists find the chemicals produced by bladder cancer. The information could then be used to develop machines to test for the chemicals. The team also plans to use dogs to help find other kinds of cancer.

Hong Kong has about forty public(公共的) beaches. Some of the beaches are among the best in the world. People ` can go there for aI swim. You can go to most of them by bus. To go to some beaches, you must take a boat. There are toilets, changing rooms and places to buy food and drinks on most of the beaches.

Here are some suggestions to keep safe in the water:

Never swim alone.

Never swim after a meal or when you feel hungry or tired.

Don't stay in the water too long.

Never go out in a boat if you can't swim.

Remember: A red flag means that it is dangerous for anybody. Everybody shouldn't go into the water. A blue flag means that it is dangerous for children.

It was Tamika's turn to tell her class where she went this summer. She stood up proudly.

"This summer I went to a big market in Bradley," Tamika said. "I bought skates(溜冰鞋)."

"That's not a trip," Jeremy said loudly to Kevin. "My mom and I go to Bradley all the time. It's only a half-hour from here." Tamika felt embarrassed(尴尬的) and then hurried back to her desk. 

Tamika listened as Peter talked about his trip to Jamaica. She heard about Mary's trip across the Atlantics to Ireland… It seemed as if everyone but her had taken a big trip over the summer. Tamika didn't feel proud of her family's trip to Bradley any more. 

After school, things got worse. One of the wheels on Tamika's skates came loose(松动的). Now she couldn't even skate to the park!

Mrs. Henderson walked up, "You look unhappy, Tamika. Want to come inside to talk about it?" Tamika came in. And then, RAP- RAP! Someone knocked at the door. "Oh, I forgot Jeremy," said Mrs. Henderson. "He's here to fix(修理) my doors." Tamika thought about school that day. She was about to jump behind the sofa so that Jeremy wouldn't see her, but it was too late.

"Hi, Tamika," said Jeremy. But Tamika said nothing. "I'm sorry about class today. I didn't go anywhere either this summer. My dad opened his own car shop, and I stayed here to help him." 

Then he noticed the new skates and there was something wrong with one of the wheels. So he picked a tool(工具) to fix the skate. Soon, he showed it to Tamika. "You fixed it!" Tamika said happily.

"I help my dad fix things." Jeremy said proudly.

"     ▲     ." Tamika said.

"What happened in class?" asked Mrs. Henderson. Jeremy said that Tamika and he were the only ones who didn't go anywhere far away. 

"I've traveled a lot in my free time," Mrs. Henderson said. "It's exciting to see the new places, but you don't have to travel far to have the excitement of doing something new." 

"Yeah," said Jeremy. "It was also fun learning how to fix things with my dad." 

"I wish I could fix things," said Tamika. 

"I could teach you." said Jeremy. 

"That's great!" said Tamika.
