Yu, 32,is a maker of automata（机关人偶）in Chengdu,Sichuan.Thanks to him,wood not only comes alive, it also tells wonderful stories.

Interested in handcrafts as a boy, Yu first learned about automata by Kazuaki at a show in 2015 when he studied at the Communication University of China in Beijing. As an art and design student, he began to learn the craft by himself, and with the help of his tutor Lu Ying, he kept studying and examining automata in school.

When he finished school in 2016, Yu got a job at an advertising（广告） company in Beijing. He stayed at the company for three years because, at that time, he was not sure that he could make a living out of his hobby. Finally, in 2019, Yu quit（辞职） his job and returned to Chengdu to open his automata workshop. His hobby has become a career（事业）.

"A fascinating thing about automata is that they interest people of all ages. Adults see them as art, while children see them as toys to be played with,"Yu said, smiling.

Yu knows that there are many more creative ideas waiting to be shown."It feels quite good to pay attention to automata and I am still searching for myself."

When Tim Carter finished high school, he started to deliver(送) pizzas. But soon he found that he didn't want to do it for the rest of his life. He thought about he saw his uncle welding(焊接) the parts of his car and was really interested in it. So he took a night class at a local school to see if welding was a job that he was going to stick to(坚持).

After studying for some time, he found it was. Tim learned more about welding there and then he wanted to learn everything about it. He decided to make welding his career(职业). But one night class wouldn't be enough. Tim went to a welding school for real practice. He was quite sure he would stick to the job.

For the past 18 years, Tim has been a skillful welder. He now works for the EEW Group. It is a welding company and also helps to give away most of the profits(收益) to environmental programs. A day for Tim includes a number of tasks and skills. "There are a lot to deal with(处理)," he told Time for Kids. "It's not just welding."

Tim's favorite part of being a welder is "making an honest living". He also feels fantastic about helping the environment. "I'm glad to stick to what I really want to do." he says. "I'm working for a company. The company is helping the country to go green, and it's meaningful for me to be a part of that."

That year I went to the college. On the first day of the term, I was so surprised because our teacher introduced an old lady to us in our class. She sat by me. She was very old, but she looked very energetic（精力充沛的）.

I was interested in why she came to the college at her age. "In fact, I always dreamed of having a college education（教育） and now I am getting one!" She told me later. We became friends. Every day we studied together. I always listened to her when she shared her stories with me. And she often asked me some problems about the lessons.

At the end of the term, we asked the lady to give a speech（演讲） to our class. I' ll never forget what she taught us. She said, "We do not stop working because we are old; we grow old because we stop. Do you want to stay young, be happy and successful? Never lose your dream and never give up."

The old woman's words touched all of us. And I still remember her words all my life, so I'll go on my dreams and try my best to make them come true.

"Yeah? Busy looking for your watch? It's on your wrist!" says Lucy.

Lin Qiaozhi was a well-known doctor in women's disease from Fujian. When she was a little girl in the early {#blank#}1{#/blank#}century, she decided to be a doctor. At that time, it was difficult for a woman to get medical training, but she{#blank#}2{#/blank#} to do it. She worked hardest{#blank#}3{#/blank#} her classmates and in 1929, she became a doctor. She was very busy all the time. She travelled abroad to study as well as writing books. One of her books explained how to reduce the death rate from having and caring for babies. She gave some{#blank#}4{#/blank#} rules to follow for keeping babies clean and healthy. Many doctors got a lot of{#blank#}5{#/blank#} on women's disease from her books.
