Do you know any cartoon(动画) characters? I see some cartoon characters in a movie. All of them look very special(特别的) and cute. Their favorite food is apples. Some of them have very short arms and legs, so they look funny. Some of them only have one eye and some have two eyes. They are small, but they are really smart. They work hard and do different work like being a policeman, a basketball player or a dancer. The characters are very popular among people.Today I want you to meet three of them.

Don't listen to music or do anything else when you do your homework. Remember that you can't do two things at the same time. If you meet very difficult questions, ask your parents or classmate s for help. You can also ask for help on the Internet. Make a good plan for your homework of every subject and try your best to finish it on time. 

Anyunna Phillips，a teacher in Atlanta，wants her students to know that they can do anything confidently by making a rule. The rule is that every morning，they take turns looking at themselves in the mirror and repeating some positive affirmations（肯定）. Some of their favourites are，Anyunna cheers and agrees with them，sometimes offering a high five. 

"It seems that students walk away from the mirror standing a little taller after doing that. I always remind them of their daily affirmations and tell them they can achieve anything. I really want to help them build their confidence，belief in themselves，and self﹣love

The students aren't the only ones who are benefiting from Anyunna's daily affirmations. She says her own mental health has improved since she started the program，and other teachers have followed suit in the school and are seeing success in other classrooms，too.

Anyunna says the response has encouraged her to keep going，too. She wants to do more to help kids reach their fullest potential（潜力）. 

Some parents think childhood is just for playing, so they don't ask their children to do housework.

Other parents say, "I know it's wrong, but it's quicker to do it by myself!" But most parents believe that housework is a way of teaching kids responsibility (责任). Children learn to help, share and care about others by doing housework. Things like taking care of a pet or a baby and helping make meals are some examples of helping others.

Reasons for doing housework

★ To learn responsibility: Most people believe that doing housework is good for kids.

★ To share the workload (工作负担): Kids that help clean won't make a big mess.

★ To learn skills: Kids will learn how to cook, clean and do other things in the house.

There are benefits (益处) and challenges when you are doing housework, so start to help your parents with the housework. You will learn a lot by doing them.

Let me tell you about my hometown. I live in Kinsale. It may be one of the smallest towns in England.

The fish restaurant is very good. It takes ten minutes to get there from my house. It cooks the best fish for people. The food is delicious to eat. So you can see many people from different countries in the fish restaurant.

My town is very beautiful because it is near the sea. In summer it is very hot and you can go swimming in the sea. People here like swimming very much. There are three small shops and you can buy your friends many things there. You can pay a little for them. The big shop is next to the post office. Things there are expensive.

The people in my town are friendly. It is easy for you to make friends with them. If you feel sick, there is a hospital with doctors and nurses. They are always helping anyone in the small town.
