Kian Hamer, 14-year-old, has become one of the youngest members (成员) of Mensa. Mensa is an international organization (国际组织) for IQ (智商). Mensa has about 110,000 members all over the world. Only eight percent of the members are under 16. Kian's IQ is 162 and it's two points higher than Albert Einstein's.

Mensa sent a letter to Kian's home. The letter wrote, "Kian is one of the cleverest people in the world." Kian is really excited to join Mensa. He always works hardest on everything he does. Although people call him a genius (天才), he still wants to be a football player when he grows up. He loves playing football very much.

His dad Rich Hamer said, "Kian is clever but I'm not calling him a genius like others. I want him to keep his feet on the ground. He needs to study hard all the time. Never be proud (骄傲). He always does well at school. He works really hard and always tries his best."

One year, a college in the Unites States announced that it would offer a lot of money for the pure white marigold(金盏花). The high reward attracted so many people, but in the nature, besides golden, the marigold is brown, and it is not easy to get the white one. So after they were excited for a time, many people had forgotten the announcement.

One normal day after 20 years, the college received a letter and 100 seeds of pure white marigold. It turned out to be anold woman of over 70 years old. Some experts in the college doubted it , but in order not to let her down, those seedsfinally took root(根) in the earth. The miracle appeared after one year: the field was covered by pure white marigold.

Therefore, the old woman who was always unknown to the public became a newfocus.

The old woman was a flower-lover. When she read the announcement 20 years ago, she got very excited like others. But her right children were totally against her decision. After all, a woman who never knew the seed genetics(遗传学)  couldn't complete what the experts could never do, so her thought was only a daydream.

Still, the old woman didn't change her mind and went on working. She planted some of the most common seeds and took good care of them. A year later, when the marigold came out, she chose one faintest(最暗淡的) from those golden and brown flowers and get the best seed. The next year, she again grew them and chose…. Day after day, year after year, through many seasons, the old woman's husband died, her children flew far and high, a lot of things happened in her life, but only the desire to grow the pure white marigold took root in her heart.

Finally, after 20 years on the day we all know, in the gardenshe saw a marigold which was not nearly white, but as white as sliver or snow.

A problem even experts couldn't deal with was solved by an old woman who didn't understand genetics. Wasn't it a miracle?

To take root in the heart, even the most common seed can grow into a miracle!

A couple of months ago, I made a promise to myself. I put some money in my wallet with the purpose of giving the money to the person in trouble.

Months passed, and as my daily life got busy, I was unable to keep my promise. Whenever I opened my wallet and saw the money, it reminded me of my promise. and I would feel a little disappointed because I haven't taken action. The voice inside told me that I should do something soon.

Today, while walking to work on a busy street, I passed a blind old lady with her hand out on the corner. Seeing her aged face and sightless eyes, I stopped at once. What a poor old lady she was! All of a sudden, I remembered my promise and the money lying in my wallet. I took out the money from the wallet and bent (弯腰) down to her level. Gently, I took her hand, placed the money into it, and closed her fingers over the money so that she could feel it and understand my action. The lady nodded her head a little bit.

I felt like I had achieved something. I kept my word to help someone in need! It was really a small act but especially a meaningful one! You will never make it if you don't take the first step.

I love traveling. I've been to many cities in China and Sanya is my favorite. Last Spring Festival, instead of visiting {#blank#}1{#/blank#}and friends, we decided to pay a visit to Sanya.

We left for Sanya as soon as our holiday began. We really enjoyed ourselves there. We played on the beach and {#blank#}2{#/blank#} fireworks.

Then we went to Nanshan Temple. A large {#blank#}3{#/blank#} of people visited it every day. According to the local(当地的){#blank#}4{#/blank#} people should eat rice cakes during the Spring Festival, so we went to a local restaurant. Its rice cakes {#blank#}5{#/blank#} good and tasted delicious.We didn't return until our holiday was about to be over.

Want some advice? Keep in mind that the best time to visit Sanya is from December to January in the dry season when the weather isn't too hot.

I'll never forget the day when I went on a hot- air balloon trip. It was a birthday gift from my aunt. 

I had to 1 early, but it wasn't a problem. I couldn't sleep because I was so excited. 

My parents and my aunt came to 2 . They waved (挥手) as I got into the balloon. There were five other people and the pilot (飞行员) in it. When we took off, it was quite 3 and I couldn't hear anything. Then it became much quieter, I can't describe the 4 . It felt like a dream. The sky was blue and clear. I could see all the people below us. They were getting smaller and smaller 5 we got higher and higher. 

6 , a rainstorm began! The balloon started to drop. The pilot decided to land as quickly as possible, but he couldn't control (控制) the balloon. The wind was 7 us to the sea. It was very scary (吓人)!

Very soon, the 8 changed direction and we were finally able to land on a hill. We got out of the balloon. Luckily, no one was hurt. I could walk back to my 9 and show them I was OK. 

Was I 10 ? Yes, a little. Will I ever do it again? Not sure!
