Yan Hong is a 33-year-old traditional handicraft（手工艺品）designer from Chengdu. Several years ago, she decided to give up her job at a hospital to do something that she truly loved to do. But at that time she didn't expect her handicrafts to become a hit in China and abroad.

Working for one's dream requires double the effort. She usually begins to work at 9 a.m. It often doesn't end until 1 a.m. or even later. But she never regrets pursuing（追求）her dream. Because she is always working with metal materials and sharp tools, Yan Hong's fingers are often covered in small cuts. And she is often faced with difficulties when trying to create handicrafts to match traditional clothing. One big problem is to find the materials that can be used to recreate these classical fashions.

Today the young artist has become a master of handicrafts. Yan Hong is good at using recycled materials. No matter how common the materials are, she is always able to create art from them. With her "magic hands", she once completed a set of headwear of the Miao ethnic（少数民族）group from 68 cans. Many of her artworks are inspired by traditional Chinese culture. One of her most popular productions is based on Chinese classic text Shan Hai Jing, also known as the Classic of Mountains and Seas.

These beautiful handicrafts have made Yan Hong popular in China. Meanwhile, her artworks have also found a large number of fans around the world. In 2019, she was invited to give a speech at the University of Oxford in the U.K. In 2022, she went to Milan Fashion Week at the invitation of foreign designers.

"It is a great honor for me to introduce traditional Chinese handicrafts to the world." she said proudly. However, she did not think her success was mainly because of her great craftsmanship（手艺）, but thanks to our "mother country's big influence in the world."

She thinks more people from other countries have started to be interested in Chinese culture as our country becomes stronger. And she feels very thankful to live in such good times and have a chance to show our traditional culture to the world.

I took my 9-year-old daughter Susan and 5-year-old son Robbie, to the shopping centre. As we got there, we saw a big sign that said, "Petting Zoo". The kids jumped up and asked, "Daddy, can we go?"

Both my wife and I were out of work. However, I said, "Sure", giving them a quarter each. They went away, leaving only fifty cents left in my pocket.

A petting zoo is made up of a hundred of little baby animals of all kinds. Kids pay their money and stay in the enclosure (围场) pleased with the little animals while their parents shop.

A few minutes later, I saw Susan walking along behind me. I was surprised and asked what was wrong.

She said sadly, "Well, Daddy, a ticket for petting zoo costs fifty cents. So I gave Robbie my quarter." Then she said the most beautiful thing I ever heard. She repeated the family motto (座右铭), which is "Love is Action!"

I knew clearly no one loves little animals than Susan. She had watched both my wife and me do and say "Love is Action!" for years, and now she had put it into her lifestyle. It had become part of her, because she knew the whole family motto. It's not only "Love is Action"; it's "Love is SACRIFICIAL (牺牲的) Action!" Love always pays a price.

I was moved. We went back to the petting zoo. Susan stood with her hands and chin (下巴) resting on the fence and just watched Robbie go crazy petting and feeding the animals. I had fifty cents burning a hole in my pocket. I put my hand into my pocket and took out the money. Sure, I must do that!

How did you spend your summer holiday last month? I'd like to tell you 1 happened to me during my holiday. 

My 2 planned a relaxing and happy trip. We didn't need to keep up with our work and studies. On the first day, 3 we started out for Shanghai, we saw on TV that the traffic was heavy. So my parents 4 not to drive our car but to take the bullet train(高速火车) to Shanghai. It was the first time that I had ridden on the bullet train, so I was really 5 .

⑥You can make solar cookers from boxes or heavy paper.They will not catch fire.Paper burns at 232℃.A solar cooker never gets hotter than that.Solar cookers cook food at low temperatures over long time.This allows people to cook food and do other things at the same time.

Yesterday, Mary didn't feel well. She had a sore throat and a runny nose. She also had a fever. Her mother was worried and took her to the doctor. At the doctor's office, the doctor asked Mary how she was feeling and about her symptoms（症状). Mary told the doctor about her sore throat, runny nose and the fever. The doctor then checked Mary's throat and listened to her breathing with a stethoscope. 

After the examination, the doctor said that Mary had a cold. The doctor advised Mary to drink lots of water, have a good rest and take some medicine. The doctor also told her to avoid eating spicy and cold food for a few days. 

Mary and her mother thanked the doctor and went home. Mary hoped she would get better soon so that she could go back to school and play with her friends.
