You are running around in the park. But then suddenly，you fall and hurt yourself. "Ow!" you cry. This sound is very familiar to us all. Crying out when we get hurt is a natural reaction. But what is it about this sound that makes us shout it out？

Scientists from the National University of Singapore now believe they've found the answer. The effort of shouting the word "ow" actually interferes （干预） with pain messages traveling to the brain. So by shouting it out，it distracts us from the feeling of pain. 

The scientists tested how long volunteers could hold their hands in very cold water. There were five rounds of the test. In the first round，they were allowed to shout "ow" when they felt pain. In another round，they had to stay silent. 

The results showed that volunteers were able to keep their hands in the cold water for longer when they were allowed to shout out. They managed around 30 seconds on average，five seconds more than when they had to remain silent. 

"We found that a simple vocal act such as saying 'ow' helps individuals deal with pain，" the report from the scientists stated. 

What's more，expressions of pain are shared among languages. While cries of "ow" or "ouch" are heard in English，South Africans yell "eina"

Scientists said in the report： "Shared among these languages is a sound during which the mouth simply opens，the tongue lies flat （水平的） and the lips unrounded. It is a simple sound that requires little control while maximizing （充分利用）

When it comes to traveling, most people would choose to go with their families or friends. But now, many are choosing new travel. buddies--their pets. Zeng Qingbin is one such person. Over the past eight years, the 35-year- old from Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, has traveled across the country with his dogs--a Shiba Inu named Chai Chai and a Labrador retriever called Ba Bao. In Zeng's eyes, these dogs are like his children. "I've always dreamed of letting them run freely on wide grasslands with snow-capped mountains in the background," Zeng said. 

As-traveling with pets becomes more popular in China, related services are also growing. 

Zhang Wei, who specializes (专门从事) in pet hiking, has organized about 180 pet trips since 2022. Each trip usually includes two to five professional guides for groups of up to 30 owners and their dogs. " ★  and all the guides are trained to deal with various emergencies (紧急情况) in the mountains," Zhang said. What's more, Zhang's team asks pet owners to fill out a form about their dogs to provide a better service before a trip.

At the same time, airlines have begun offering charter (包租) services for pet owners to travel across the country and even internationally. 

On June 14, China's first outbound (出境的) charter flight allowing pets landed at Shanghai Pudong International Airport after taking 60 tourists and 18 pet dogs to Thailand. There will be more trips to South Korea, Southeast Asia and Europe. 

Though pet tourism is still in its early stages and faces many challenges in China, it is becoming a promising area for exploration in the tourism industry (行业), experts said. 

There is a nature park in the southwest of our city. The government built it for the rare (稀有的) animals {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(live). The nature park is the symbol of our city.

Why are the leaves on trees different colors? What makes them change color? Leaves use sunlight, water, and air to make food for the trees. This way of making food is called photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is important to animals as well as plants. Some animals ea t plants. Other animals eat these animals.

Summer is playtime. For the leaves of many trees, however, it's work, work, work! The Sun is shining. The leaves are making food for the trees. The trees keep more than enough food deep inside. Leaves are green in summer because they are making food. Leaves also have orange, yellow, or brown colors inside them. During summer, those colors are covered by the green color.

Many places get colder in fall with shorter days and longer nights. Trees get less sunlight, so photosynthesis slows down. Over time, leaves stop making the green chemical. The hidden orange, yellow, and brown colors grow when that happens.

Once it gets cold enough and ice appears at night, the trees drop their leaves. They do this to keep themselves safe. If the leaves turn to ice while still on the trees, the trees can be hurt. Trees that drop their leaves are bare (光秃秃) in winter. They use the food they save in summer to get through the cold days and nights.

Spring comes before long. Ice and snow disappear and the rains come. The Sun shines, and tiny leaves grow from branches. Once again, the leaves use sunlight, water, and air to make food. The cycle(循环) begins again.
