Club sports — for those just like sports

    Many colleges have established many club sports, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} to meet a special interest or fill a gap {#blank#}2{#/blank#} an intercollegiate(校际的) team is not available. Some of sports, like fencing, crew and rugby, are sometimes {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (compete) for club members. They are often played with other colleges and sometimes with community groups. These clubs give you the opportunity {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(play) a sport you love or learn a sport that is new to you. The one drawback(缺点) to club sports is {#blank#}5{#/blank#} colleges often don't fund(提供资金) them. In these cases, club members have to work hard to organize fund-raisers and collect money to keep their sports {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(go).

    Club sports are less time-consuming {#blank#}7{#/blank#} other athletic items, and you can easily miss a practice or even a competition if your academic or work commitments are {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(particular) demanding at a certain point. You can also leave a club sport if you find it just isn't working out. However, it's {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (worthy) it to stick with a club sport for a while.

    Most colleges have a full range of teams, so you can attend sports competitions year-round. At bigger schools, larger sports, like football and basketball, may attract fans from all over the area. {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(small) sports, however, will also attract a group of fans.

    This summer I travelled from noisy Beijing to Wuzhen, a beautiful village in Zhejiang Province. Unfolded before me was{#blank#}1{#/blank#}unique image of this water country—the stone bridge and the water flowing, all like fairy tales to me.

    However{#blank#}2{#/blank#} impressed me most was not the natural scenery but the scene of a grandma bathing a little baby in a wooden basin with the door open. My friends couldn't help{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(take) pictures of them. To my surprise, the grandma smiled and waved at us. All of a sudden, my heart was filled with {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (warm).

    I shared the photo and my{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (forget) experience with my friends. They were {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(simple) moved as I was, but at the same time they reminded me of the unpleasant experiences in big cities. We feel embarrassed to see people quarreling in public because they{#blank#}7{#/blank#} (step) on accidentally by strangers.

    According to a recent survey{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (make) in November 2016: 45 percent of the residents don't know the names of their neighbors; 63 percent have never devoted{#blank#}9{#/blank#} (they) to talking to their neighbors; 67 percent think that the relationship between them and their neighbors is just so-so, or even bad.

    Wouldn't it be beautiful to say hello to our neighbors who just came back {#blank#}10{#/blank#}work give them a smile?

    As an old English saying goes, "Honesty is the best policy". It is more than{#blank#}1{#/blank#}old cliché(陈词滥调), but a good way to live your life. First, honesty is the{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(easy) choice that we can make. When people get caught in lies, it always costs them something. Many relationships are destroyed by lies. Second, honesty gives us much{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(free). Many believe that being honest limits them in life, but that is not true. Sooner or later those dishonest people {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (pay) a price for their acts; on the contrary, when we are honest, we are {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (true) free.

    If there were two people standing before you, a person {#blank#}6{#/blank#} a record of being honest and a person who is known to be dishonest, who would you be more likely {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (believe)? I'm sure most people would side with the honest person. {#blank#}8{#/blank#} we live in the truth or we live in lies. Truth sets us free and lies leave us in nothing {#blank#}9{#/blank#} more troubles. Honesty is a choice that we can make each day. The choice is {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (you). What will you choose?

    Museums keep history alive. Well; museums have great importance for people who{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(enjoy) history, or who are very{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(interest) in one particular subject. There are art museums, railroad museums, dollhouse museums, and museums of history, or the history of a certain area. There are many, many other types as well. For people who love paintings by very popular artists, but are too poor to buy a painting, art museums are probably {#blank#}3{#/blank#}only place for them{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(see)an original, Picasso, for example. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (visit) museums is a {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (wonder) and popular tourist activity.{#blank#}7{#/blank#} you go to a new country, seeing some of the history described at a museum is interesting and even fun. Sometimes the museums are {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (attract) than the most famous places of interest.

    I {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(visit) a couple of large dams (水坝) so far, and seeing the historical information about how the dams {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (build) is fascinating(吸引人的) to me. Obviously, not all the people like the same kind of museums. But I am sure that you can find one you enjoy.

    Wallace's giant bee is the world's {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (large) bee, with a body the size of a human thumb and wings that can spread to about 2.5 inches. That may sound {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (frighten), but the bee isn't likely to hurt anyone. It uses its large jaws (嘴) to collect a sticky goo, called resin, from trees. The bee {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (make) its home in termite mounds (白蚁丘) found on trees, using the resin to protect its nest from the termites. Until recently, the bee had been seen by scientists only {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (two), once in 1868 and again in 1981.
