Last Friday, as usual I went home by bike. But at a crossing, I {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (sudden) knocked an old man off his bike. I hurried over and found that his leg {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (injure). Nervous and worried, I called my mom and told her what had happened. We decided to take him to the hospital first.

    Shortly after we arrived at the hospital, my mother came. I had some doubt {#blank#}3{#/blank#} there was anything seriously wrong with the old man. The doctor gave the old man a {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (detail) examination. To our delight and relief, there was nothing seriously wrong with him. We thanked the doctor and left. After that, we went back to the place {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the old man's bike was parked, only {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (find) it didn't work. Before the old man left, my mom offered him our cell phone number in case he needed to contact us. Then the old man got on his bike and we waved goodbye to each other.

    If I {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (ride) my bike carefully, I would have avoided the accident. Consequently, the unexpected accident made me realize that in the first place we should be careful, but once it occurs, we should take {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (responsible).

    Zoos are places {#blank#}1{#/blank#} animals are kept. There are some reasons {#blank#}2{#/blank#} keeping animals in zoos.

    Firstly, zoos are entertaining and interesting places of children. Most children like to see animals in zoos. Zoos also offer people {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (live) in big cities a chance of getting close to nature.

    Secondly, it is easier for scientists to research animals' lives when they are kept in zoos than they are in forests. Scientists can study animals' {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (relate), their life cycles, or their habits to learn how to breed animals, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} can reduce animal {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (extinct).

    There once was a forest filled with happy animals. One day a raccoon (浣熊) found some socks left behind by picnickers, and {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(decide) to wear them. They fitted so well, and felt so {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(comfort), that he kept them on. He spent his days {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(walk) through the forest in his new socks.

    Soon, the problems started. The squirrel caught his shirt on a branch and crashed to the ground. The rabbit tried entering his hole while wearing his hat and got stuck. Even the raccoon, thanks to his {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(bright) coloured socks, slipped into the river and almost died.

    When the {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(injure) animals came to see Doctor Bear, he told them, “Your clothes are killing you. You don't need {#blank#}9{#/blank#}.”

    Those {#blank#}10{#/blank#} listened to the doctor's advice finally understood they didn't need clothes. They'd only started wearing clothes to make others envy them.

    It's amazing that Chinese police are using facial-recognition tech to catch criminals. Police in Beijing are reportedly testing out new smart glasses with facial-recognition technology. The smart tech, which {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (use) in many checkpoints to find suspects presently.

    Some people will certainly be worried about the possibility of police using facial-recognition tech to flag individuals, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the chief executive thinks that there is no reason {#blank#}3{#/blank#} the concern, because he trusts the government. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (Interesting), this is not the first time that facial recognition has been used to stop wrongdoers in Beijing. In 2017, we reported on how visitors were having their faces scanned automatically in a certain restroom in {#blank#}5{#/blank#} capita] city to prevent locals from {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (steal) the paper for use at home.

    Authorities in Shenzhen, China, have also set up artificial intelligence-powered CCTV cameras to scan the faces of those {#blank#}7{#/blank#} cross the streets unlawfully and display their {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (identity) on large LED screens for all people to see.

    If that isn't punishment enough, plans are now in place {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (link) the current system with cellular technology, so offenders will also be sent a text message with a fine as soon as they are caught {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (cross) the road against traffic lights.

    For Nigel Portman, a love of travelling began with what's called a "gap year". In common with many other British teenagers, he chose{#blank#}1{#/blank#}（take） a year out before settling down to study for his degree. After doing various{#blank#}2{#/blank#} （job） to raise some money,  he left home to gain some experience of life in different cultures, visiting America and Asia.     Now that his university course{#blank#}5{#/blank#}（come） to an end, Nigel is just about to leave on a three﹣year trip that will take him right around the world. What's more, he plans to make the whole journey{#blank#}6{#/blank#}（use） only means of transport which are powered by natural energy. In other words, he'll be relying{#blank#}7{#/blank#}（main） on bicycles and his own legs; and when there's an ocean to cross, he won't be taking a shortcut（捷径）{#blank#}8{#/blank#}flying aboard﹣he'll be joining the crew of a sailing ship, instead.

    As well as doing some mountain climbing along {#blank#}9{#/blank#}way, Nigel hopes to pass on to the people he meets the environmental message {#blank#}10{#/blank#}lies behind the whole idea.
