Today, after finishing dinner in town, my husband and I were driving back home. As we pulled over, we saw a couple painting their furniture.

    I went inside our home, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (change) and then went back out again to ask our neighbors if they needed any help. While leaving my home, I was plagued (困扰) by thoughts of {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (embarrass), denial, or being received. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}, I gathered the courage to go down and ask {#blank#}4{#/blank#} ,anyway!

    Initially, the woman denied. Then, the man said, “Sure”, and he handed me a spray paint bottle. We got into some good conversations {#blank#}5{#/blank#} painting with great effort.  When we finished, I briefly chatted with them before leaving.

    In the end, not only {#blank#}6{#/blank#} I enjoy helping them, but also learned about my neighbors. {#blank#}7{#/blank#} the way home, I must admit, I couldn't help but wonder {#blank#}8{#/blank#} they might be thinking about me.  {#blank#}9{#/blank#} is tough to do a good deed for others and not expect that they will be thinking good about you.

    Today's experience taught me some  {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (value) lessons in my life! Hopefully, these lessons will help me continue my acts of kindness in future.

    The Abbey Road pedestrian crossing in Northern London is one of the world's most famous {#blank#}1{#/blank#} it is on the cover of Beatles album. Now, the British government {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(put) it on the list of national heritage sites.

The crossing is near the Abbey Road studios {#blank#}6{#/blank#}the Beatles made most of their records. Today it can {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(see) around the world on a special webcam(网络摄像头). The studio building {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(it)became listed by British Heritage last February. The photographer of the picture said he only had 10 minutes {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(take) it. It became one of the most famous album covers of all times. The Abbey Road  album was {#blank#}10{#/blank#}last one the Beatles completed before they broke up.

    Global warming has caused a rise in sea levels,{#blank#}1{#/blank#}has increased the amount of salt in fresh water used on seaside farms. As a result, farmers are{#blank#}2{#/blank#} (increase) unable to use fields close to the sea.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}a farmer in the Netherlands is now using a mixture of sea and fresh water {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (grow) tasty vegetables.

    I won't call myself the most accomplished person when it comes to {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (hold) chopsticks. In fact, I'm pretty sure that my technique looks clumsy at times. I tend to hold {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (I) in the middle, more beginner than expert.

    Still, since I eat almost every meal with the eating utensil（器皿）of choice in China it's not uncommon for a new friend or acquaintance to come to a simple {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (conclude) after observing me that my Chinese husband, Jun, must {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (show) me how to use them.

    They are wrong. I've used chopsticks ever since I was a teenager, a time when my sister and mother were both fond of Chinese cuisine and introduced me {#blank#}5{#/blank#} many new dishes, along with the {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (prefer) utensils in China. We always kept bamboo chopsticks along with our {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (knife), forks and spoons, ready for whenever we happened to have Chinese food for dinner. It was my closest family {#blank#}8{#/blank#} observed my first mistakes I made in using chopsticks.

    Plus, I lived over two years in China before Jun and I started dating and I {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (expect) to use chopsticks in almost every restaurant, stand and bar. Trust me, when you're hungry you figure out pretty fast what it takes to down（咽下）{#blank#}10{#/blank#} meal with these utensils.

    Inserting needles through the skin may sound scary, but acupuncncture and moxa-moxibustion, two key components of {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (tradition) Chinese medicine (TCM), are said to improve the patient's health and well-being.

    {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (add) to UNESCO's representative list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2010, acupuncture and moxibustion are {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (wide) practiced in China. Their format and practice have distinctive regional characteristics and they have a precious heritage based {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Chinese culture and science.

    The theory of Chinese medicine believes the human body is a small universe with {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (it) own circulatory system, in this system, there are acupoints (穴位) connecting the channels. By stimulating these acupoints, the self-regulating functions of the human body can {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (promote). Acupuncture refers to the practice of inserting needles into the body of a patient at a certain angle and using {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (technique) such as twisting and lifting the needles to excite acupoints {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (treat) diseases. Moxa-moxibustion normally refers to placing moxa (艾) directly on acupoints or holding moxa sticks at {#blank#}9{#/blank#} distance to warm the body.

    In 1995, the World Health Organization published {#blank#}10{#/blank#} can be treated by acupuncture and moxibustion. TCM has become more and more accepted by other countries in the world.

    When someone has deeply hurt you, it can be very difficult to let go of your anger. But forgiveness is possible ­ and it can be surprisingly {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (benefit) to your physical and mental health. So far, research {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(show) that people who forgive can have more energy, better appetite and better sleep. "People who forgive show {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(little) anger and more hopefulness," says Dr. Fre deric Luskin, who wrote the book Forgive for Good. So it can help reduce the tiredness out of the immune system and allow people {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(feel) more energetic."

    So when someone has hurt you, cool down first. Take a couple of breaths and think of something {#blank#}5{#/blank#}gives you pleasure: a beautiful scene in nature, or someone you love. Don't wait for an {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (apologize). "Many times the person who hurt you may never think of apologizing," says Dr. Luskin. "They may have wanted to hurt you or they just don't see things in {#blank#}7{#/blank#}same way. So if you wait for people to say sorry, you could be waiting a very long time."

    Next keep in mind that forgiveness does not necessarily mean {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(accept) the action of the person who upsets you. Instead, learn to look for the love, beauty and kindness around you. Finally, try to see things from the other person's perspective. You may realize that he {#blank#}9{#/blank#}she was acting out of ignorance. To gain perspective, you may want to write a letter to {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(you) from that person's point of view.
