Chinese New Year begins on doors and walls. Spring couplets (春联) stand for people's wishes for a happier {#blank#}1{#/blank#}in the coming year. It has a long history.

The couplets are written on{#blank#}2{#/blank#}paper. They are very important during the Spring Festival. People are very busy before the Spring Festival, but sticking couplets is usually the{#blank#}3{#/blank#}thing to do. When I was a child, my mother would ask me to take some {#blank#}4{#/blank#}to people who wrote couplets for us. When they were writing, I would watch how they used the brush pen(毛笔) to {#blank#}5{#/blank#} these great works.

Later when I was a little older, my parents encouraged me to learn{#blank#}6{#/blank#}to write couplets. I became greatly interested in it. Every time when we{#blank#}7{#/blank#}relatives during the Spring Festival, I was always happy to collect the poems of their couplets. The poems are hopeful words. They{#blank#}8{#/blank#}good wishes like "health, wealth and longevity(长寿)".

Now we can{#blank#}9{#/blank#}buy all kinds of beautiful couplets on the street. But the best wishes of couplets are the same. The red paper and black words are not only for writing the couplets, but also carry our{#blank#}10{#/blank#}for traditional culture. They will never be forgotten.

Sara is fourteen years old. She gets up at seven o'clock in the morning and has breakfast at seven thirty. Then she goes to school by bus. After the lessons she plays in the park with her friends and they like flying kites. Sara goes home at five o'clock in the afternoon. She has dinner with her mother and father. Her father likes cooking and he is good at it! Sara goes to bed at half past nine in the evening.

Sara likes doing sports. She often plays football. She thinks it is interesting! But she doesn't like playing basketball. In summer, Sara likes to go camping (野营) with her grandpa. She doesn't like to help her grandma in the garden (花园). It's not interesting!

Nowadays, a new method is used to decide who are the top students in school. The best students are those who not only get high marks, but also follow the rules and the behavior standards for middle school students. Here are some of the new rules and standards. 

Tell the truth. Have you ever copied someone else's work in the exams? If you have, don't do it again! That's not something an honest student should do. If you have played online games for two hours in your room, don't tell your parents you were doing homework. 

Learn to be loving and caring. Good students love animals and care for other people. 

Learn to work together with others. It would be more fun when more people work together. Did you quarrel with your teammates when your basketball team lost? Only working together can make your team stronger. You shouldn't only think of yourself. You should also think of others. 

Be open to new ideas. Have you ever thought that people could live on the moon? Perhaps you'll discover Earth Ⅱ someday. Don't look down on new ideas. Everyone's ideas are important. You should welcome them, because new ideas make life better for everyone. 

Use the Internet carefully. The Internet can be very useful for your studies. Some websites on the Internet aren't for kids, so make sure to visit the ones that are good for you. You can use the Websites for fun or homework. Can't you find any good websites for you? 

I am Ashraf from Cairo, Egypt. Last summer, my cousin Sami came to Cairo for the first time. He is 28 and he lives in London. He is an architect(建筑师) and he was visiting Cairo for his job. 

 On the morning of his last day here, we went to Khan el-Khalili, It is a big market in the centre of Cairo. Hundreds of people come to the market every day. It is quieter in the morning than in the afternoon when lots of tourists visit it. 

 My dad is a taxi driver. He gave us a ride to the market. On the way, we saw many buildings. Sami liked them a lot. He said, "I like the buildings in London, but Cairo's buildings are more interesting. And the people here are friendly, too. But the streets are busier and noisier than those in London!"

 The things in the market are not too expensive. Sami bought a dress for his daughter and a toy violin for his son. We had lunch at a coffee house and Sami admired the food. He said it was both beautiful and tasty. While we were eating, we enjoyed some wonderful Egyptian music. A band was playing the violin and the drums. We also took a lot of photos. 

 Finally, it was time for Sami to go home. "Thank you for showing me around this beautiful city, " Sami said. "One day, I want to show you around my city!"
