The British Museum is the biggest one in the world. It was built nearly 300 years ago by a doctor, Sir Hans Sloane. The man liked to collect things such as books, drawings, clothes and so on. He also hoped that his children and grandchildren kept his things well and so people would visit them after his death. His wish came true, and the museum opened in 1759, six years after Sir Hans Sloane died. Later, more antiques (古董) arrived at the museum and more people wanted to visit it. 

The museum had a famous round Reading Room. There was something unusual in the room. Cool air came up through small holes in the tables. Hot air flowing under the floor kept readers' feet warm. Since its opening, many famous people wrote and studied there. 

It is open every day of the yea,r except two holidays (New Year's Day and Christmas). Entrance (入场) is free. There are lots of special exhibitions and every day there are different films and talks, some of them for children. Small machines tell you about the museum as you walk around it. 

So if you are one of the British Museum's two million tourists this year, don't try to see it all too quickly. There is a lifetime of looking in the British Museum.

You might have seen beautiful rainbows in the sky before. They form when sunlight falls on water drops in the air. But in fact, moonlight can also create rainbows in the same way. They are called "moonbows". They are similar to rainbows, but they are created by moonlight instead of direct sunlight.

Moonbows are less common than rainbows. Different weather and astronomical(天文学的) conditions have to be just right for moonbows to be created.

The moon has to be very low in the sky-only 42 degrees from the horizon(地平线). The moon period has to be a full moon or nearly full. The sky must be very dark for a moonbow to be watched clearly-any bright light can obscure it. Water drops must appear in the air in the opposite direction of the moon.

Moonbows appear on the opposite side of the moon and usually look white to the human eye. This is because their colors are not bright enough to be noticed by the human eye. It is possible, however, to view the colors in a moonbow using long exposure (长时间曝光) photography.

Moonbows more often appear in some locations around the world. Most of these locations usually have waterfalls, which create thin fog in the air. Some of these locations are the Yosemite National Park in California and Cumberland Falls State Resort Park in Kentucky, US; Victoria Falls on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe; and Waimea in Hawaii, US.

Moonbows do really happen. So at a certain time and a certain place, when a moonbow happens to appear, you can't miss it if you're right there.

When talking about the Chinese food going abroad, you can't forget River Snail Rice Noodles, or Luosifen. It is one of the most popular snacks in Liuzhou City, Guangxi province. The dish is famous for its strong smell. Do you know how to make Luosifen?

The first step is to prepare some rice noodles, river snails and different kinds of ingredients. To make it, firstly, people should soak (浸泡) the rice noodles in water until they are soft. After that, wash the river snails and make soup. When the rice noodles and the soup are ready, then boil rice noodles with sour bamboo shoots (酸竹笋), dried tofu skin, fresh vegetables and peanuts in river snail soup. The taste mostly comes from the sour bamboo shoots. This ingredient gives Luosifen its unique taste. "Without the sour bamboo shoots, Luosifen will lose its soul (灵魂)," some people say.

In the 1970s, Luosifen was just a cheap street snack in Liuzhou. People outside of the city knew little about it. It became an intangible cultural heritage (非物质文化遗产) of Guangxi in 2008. Four years later, a popular Chinese food show, A Bite ofChina, made Luosifen known to the public and then it became a household name, from then on, Luosifen has become popular around China.

Now more and more Luosifen restaurants are opened not only in the big cities in China, but also in many foreign(外国的) countries like the US, Australia, Germany and so on. People can also buy instant (速食的) Luosifen online on apps such as Taobao and TikTok, You can enjoy Luosifen wherever you like.

This is my second day in the new school in the new country. 

There will be no lessons today because we are going to somewhere by train. On the train, the students know each other, but they don't know me and I don't know them. I can't understand them when they speak, and I can't speak to them. I don't know their language at all. 

Suddenly, the girl who sits next to me smiles and points to herself. "Anna, " she says. She points to me, "Farah!"I nod and say, "Farah. " Then I look across the field, aimlessly. 

We stop at a place with many apple trees. I find out we are to pick the fruit. Our teacher tells each student to pick one apple. 

When I am wandering around, I find a tree, shorter than the others. It is small and alone, like me. A few hard green apples in its branches. I twist one off and it fits perfectly in my hand. 

After a while, we all pick our apples and run to a little crooked house at the bottom of the hill. They have a machine that chop(切碎) the apples there. 

One by one we put our apples into the machine. I will be last to put my small green one. Then the students begin to push on the handle. It must be very hard. 

I hang back, not sure if I should be with the others. But I am strong. I can help. So, I take a step towards them. At this time, Ann a waves to me to come beside her. A boy quickly makes a place for me between them. It is hard, but we are working together and we can do it. I am pleased. 

The juice drips down. And we all taste it. I do think I taste my special apple. 

On the way back to school, Ann a sits next to me again on the train. There is a boy on my other side, smiling at me. Jim pats his stomach, and a belch(打嗝声) jumps from his throat. Everyone laughs. I do too. 

Laughs sound the same as at home. So do belches and lots of things. It is the words that are strange. But soon I will know their words. I will blend with the others the way my apple blended with the apple juice. 

I take a deep breath and try to learn their language, saying "App-ell". Anna claps. I smile. It is my first outside-myself word. There will be more.
