I saved the grain carefully and finally had enough to plant. I built a wall around my garden to keep the wild goats away. Then I killed some birds and hung them among the crop to stop others getting closer.

With my new grain to store, I found a new problem. The fine grain ran through my baskets. It took me nearly two months to form and dry two ugly pots—one for rice and one for wheat.

Next I formed a clay oven and made some other tools from hard wood and cloth to bake bread. I made and baked bread in my oven. I spent the third year on the island in farming and baking.

Soon after that, I began to think of my days sailing in a tidy boat with Xury. I wished to have a boat and explore the island by sea.

I tried to turn over the ship's boat that I had seen washed up, but failed. I still decided to have a boat. So I chose a strong tree and spent weeks cutting it down. Then it took me months to turn it from tree to boat.

When it was time to set off, I realized I had made my boat too far from the nearest stream. The boat was far too heavy for me to move. I tried bringing the water to the boat instead of the boat to the water. I soon saw it would take me twenty years of constant labor.

I celebrated my fourth year on the island with two boats, but I was no closer to a sea journey.

Living Like Franklin（像本杰明 · 富兰克林那样安排作息帮助我成为了一个更高效的人）

Benjamin Franklin, a writer, printer, politician, scientist and inventor, certainly knew how to get things done quickly. I recently learned about his daily schedule. And in an effort to be more productive, I have tried to follow it.

I started by getting up at 5 every morning. However, I always found myself tired during the day. After six days, I decided to rise at 6 a.m. and spend two hours — one hour less than Franklin — planning my day. Franklin's day didn't seem to include any exercise. I'm used to exercising in the morning, so I added "workout" to those two hours. At 8 a.m., I sit down to work.

Working continuously for four hours was a challenge. I realized that I was less able to fully focus on my work after 10 a.m. Slowly, I found a fix by dealing with harder tasks, like writing, in the first half of these four hours. I use the remaining two hours for easier tasks like researching.

Taking a two-hour break at noon to eat and read seemed wasteful to me. I rarely spent more than 30 minutes eating lunch. During the first week, I kept watching the clock to find out when I could return to work. Finally, I decided not to eat and read at my desk. Now, I'm used to taking a longer lunch break, and I've seen the benefits.

At 2 p.m., I start working non-stop for another four hours. Again, the order in which I complete my tasks is based on my energy level. At 6 p.m., I force myself to call it a day. I spend the rest of the day having supper and relaxing. I go to bed at 10 p.m.

Every morning, Franklin would ask himself, "What good shall I do today?" And he would end the day by asking himself, "____?" At first, I thought this was silly. But answering those two questions daily has helped me to make the most of my day.

I've learned a lot by following Franklin's schedule. I think I'm using my time more wisely now.

I walked into the Huddle House Restaurant in Brunswick, Georgia and sat down at the table. I picked up the menu and was to order something for breakfast.

"Excuse me,"

I looked up and1 a nice-looking woman standing before me.

"Is your name Roger?"2 asked.

"Yes, " I answered, feeling rather surprised as I had never seen her before.

"My name's Barbara and my3 is Tony," She said, pointing to a middle-aged man sitting alone at the table by the window. He was4 and weak.

"Tony White, from Landon School in Jacksonville, Florida," she added.

I looked at that man for a few seconds5 I didn't know him.

"I'm really sorry. The name doesn't  ring the bell," I said.

She walked back, began6 with her husband and once in a while I saw her turn around and look at me.

I ordered breakfast and a cup of7 , sitting there, trying to remember who this Tony was. "I8 know him," I thought to myself. "He knows me for some reason. " I picked up the coffee cup. All of a sudden(突然), it came to me like a flash of lightning. (一道闪电)

"Tony, the bully, the bad boy!" I could9 believe (相信) my eyes. "My God! He's so thin now. Not the big boy that I10 from back in 1997. "

Everything came up to my mind. The time this11 boy had made fun of my big ears in front of the girls in my class, and the time this big bully had pushed(推) me against the walls in the hallway just to make himself12 a big man to all other students.

"I am sorry, Roger," Tony rolled by me in the wheelchair(轮椅), being pushed by his wife, raising his thin, shaking hand. "I am so sorry for13 that I did to you. "

"I'm…I'm  er…" I didn't know14 to say to him.

After a few months, I got a letter from Barbara. Tony was15 . Tony had been a fireman and had been seriously wounded (受伤) in a task.

How I regretted (后悔) for not saying something to him but I no longer had the chance!

One afternoon，I went into {#blank#}1{#/blank#} art museum while waiting for my husband. I hoped to enjoy the works of art {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (quiet). 

A young couple walked in front of me and talked {#blank#}3{#/blank#} the paintings between themselves all the time. The lady did almost all the talking，but the man kept listening to her. I thought the man was very patient {#blank#}4{#/blank#} nobody would like to be bothered(打扰) while enjoying the paintings. 

I met them several {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(time) as I moved through the different rooms of the art museum. Each time I heard her talking，I moved away quickly. 

I {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(pay)for some gifts at the museum shop when the couple walked slowly to the exit(出口). Before they left，the man took out a cane(拐杖). Then he tapped(轻敲) his way. 

"He is a brave man，" the worker of the shop said. He decided not {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (change) his life after his eyes got hurt. Though he is blind now，he never gives {#blank#}8{#/blank#}. He and his wife come here whenever there is a new art show. "

"But what can he get out of the art？ He can't see！" I asked. "You are wrong. He sees a lot， {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (much) than you and I do. " The worker said，"His wife describes each painting so he can see it in his mind. "

I fell {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (silence). Then I realised that I learnt something about patience, courage and love that day. 

Meiyu, is from Turkey (土耳其). She is the youngest child of her family. After high school, many people decided to learn English or Japanese, but Meiyu decided to learn Chinese in university. She learnt Chinese for four years in Ankara University in Turkey, and got her Chinese name Meiyu there. 

Meiyu fell in love with Chinese after going to university. She became more interested after she knew more about Chinese history. In the beginning, many people did not understand her decision. But they all said Meiyu had made a right choice when she graduated from university. Because at that time, more Chinese have been visiting Turkey. The trade between the two countries also requires Chinese- speaking people. "Being able to speak Chinese means more job opportunities, " said Meiyu. 

And then she worked in Wuhan, China. Besides going on studying Chinese, she showed great interest in Chinese kung fu as well, so she spent her free time on kung fu training with her coaches. Not only could kung fu help improve her health, but its history and culture also attracted(吸引) Meiyu. Meiyu said, "The moreI know about China, the luckier I feel to have been here. But the truth is that fun and pain go together in the process of learning. "

After Meiyu worked in China for two years, her friends wanted her to stay in China, but her parents hoped she could go back home. Meiyu thought it was difficult to decide. "Even if I go back to Turkey, I will choose Chinese language education as my job, " said Meiyu.
