Ann is a ten-year-old girl. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} weekends, she doesn't go to school and usually plays outside with her friends. It was Sunday yesterday and there {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (be) a storm. Ann felt tired inside the house. She didn't know {#blank#}3{#/blank#} to do after she finished her homework. Though it was raining heavily, she wanted to go out. But her mother didn't agree. 

To get much fun, Ann tried to keep {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (she) busy inside the house. She read a book. However, she got bored and stopped {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (read) after she read several passages. Then, she decided {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (practice) the guitar. It was one of her {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (hobby). She didn't stop practicing until lunchtime. After lunch, she sat by the window and watched the rain in silence. 

While Ann was watching the rain, the phone rang {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (sudden). Her father called to say he was coming home. Ann felt {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (excite) because her father was away on business and she didn't see her father for about a week. After about two hours, her father got home and gave Ann a present. She really had {#blank#}10{#/blank#} good time with her dad!

Over 2. 300 students and teachers from two middle schools in Guyuan, Ningxia, walked to the Renshanhe Martyrs Cemetery (烈士陵园) on April 1, before Qingming Festival. 

The group started walking at about 430 a. m. They walked 27 kilometers to get to the cemetery. Although it was a little difficult for the students to walk along the mountain roads, no one fell behind (掉队). 

On the trip, the students took red flags and sang songs (歌曲) . When the girls had difficulty climbing up, the boys gave them their hands. The group arrived at the cemetery at about 10 a. m. After a few activities, the students and teachers went back to Guyuan on foot. 

To make sure all the students were safe(安全的), the two schools did many things before the long walk. " We started to let the students take physical exercise a month ago, " one teacher said. " When they did morning exercise and had P. E. classes, they practiced a lot. It was really a challenge for the students to finish the 54—kilometer trip, but everyone tried very hard to make sure they could do it. 

The schools want their students to remember the martyrs. They also want their students to keep their bodies and minds healthy by doing this activity. 

Hangzhou is a good city to live and visit. Many places like the West Lake and Lingyin Temple are very 1 . There are millions of people visiting them every year. But to me, I 2  Xixi Wetland Park. It is about ten kilometres from the West Lake. And it is China's first national wetland 3 . I didn't go there until last year 4  I have worked in Hangzhou for about 7 years. 

Last June, I got ill and had to have a 5  for days at home. The doctor saidI should get close to 6  often. He said the natural world would be better for my 7  than medicine. I listened to him and 8  the park with my husband for the first time. 

Tall trees, green grass and fresh air made me 9 . I forgot my busy work and illness. When I saw fish 10  freely in the river, I felt like I was a fish. My 311  said, "There are many rivers, 12  and marshes(沼泽) in the park. In fact, the waterways are over 100 km 13 . Over 50 kinds of fish and aquatic(水生的) animals are 14  here. This park is home to many animals. "

I'm not sure if the plants, fish and birds like the wetland park, but I 15  it. It really makes me relax. 

One of  my favorite high school teachers was Mrs.Ide. She was my 1 teacher and the leader of our choir(合唱团).It was Mrs.Ide who asked me to 2 the school choir. Mrs.Ide was a great teacher, because she believed in all of us and wag a musical 3

Mrs. Ide always had 4 topics for her music class.She had ideas to make them fun every time.We worked in groups in class.We studied for musicals (歌剧) and everyone of us had a part to act and sing When we5 studying  our  parts,we  had  a"creative  evening",where  all  our  families,friends  and teachers came and watched our play.

Mrs.Ide believed in our musical talents.She taught us to be self-confident with our voices and how to use different skills to6  our singing.She told us every week that we all had great talent,and it felt really good that she had such confidence in our musical 7

I can say that Mrs.Ide was the best teacher and she  8 cared about us.She helped everyone in her class to be more 9 Also she taught us skills,so that we were able to train at home alone.She was the person who 10 me to study singing.I really hope that there are other teachers like her,who are an inspiration   (鼓舞人的人) for students and their future.

Teaching kids gently

Students discuss whether it is right for strangers to educate others' kids. 

Recently, during a flight, a toddler (刚学走路的小孩) kept crying, and two strangers took her to the bathroom and locked her in there for "education". This led to a heated discussion. Examples like South Korea's "no-kids zones (区域)" and reminders (提示语) for parents on high-speed trains show how the public reacts to crying children. How do you feel about strangers "educating" noisy young children?

I think it's not OK for strangers to educate the children of others. Sometimes, children can be naughty and might shout in public. This can be annoying and make us want to step in. But from the child's point of view, a stranger stepping in and shouting at them can be scary. It can also hurt children's feelings. Parents can also feel stressed when their children disturb (打扰) other passengers, but they might not know what to do. Sometimes children cry to draw others' attention because they can't express their needs well. So as strangers, it's best to kindly remind parents to look after their kids and check if they are hungry or unwell.

Instead of strangers, parents should be the ones teaching their children how to behave properly. I believe many passengers "dislike children" not because of the children's behavior, but because they really can't stand their parents' attitude. As children grow up, it is normal for them to make mistakes and disturb others without meaning to because they are too small to understand so much information. What is really scary is that parents turn a blind eye to their children's mistakes, use "he is just a kid" as an excuse and force others to tolerate (容忍) their children. If a child really does something that disturbs others, then the parents should say sorry and solve the problem.

①It is widely known that China has the best high-speed railway network (网络) in the world. Now, the country is breaking its own speed(速度) record with CR450. 

②CR450 can travel at 400 kilometers per hour on average, with a top speed hitting 453km/h. Before this, the fastest high-speed train operating in a rail network in the world is China's CR400, which runs at 350 km/h on average. Once put into use, for example, the CR450 will shorten the travel time from Beijing to Shanghai to just about two and a half hours, which takes at least four and a half hours at the moment. 

③"The key is not to make the train run fast but to have it brake (刹车) accurately (精准地) and steadily (平稳地), " Zhao Hongwei of the China Academy of Railway Sciences told CCTV News. The standard is that the CR450 should have the same brake distance as the CR400, which is 6, 500 meters, even though it travels a lot faster. It can also start braking more quickly, taking just 1. 7 seconds compared to the 2. 3 seconds needed for the CR400. 

④The engineers did lots of tests with the brakes to make the system better. In the tests, the brake disc (制动盘) got really hot, reaching temperatures of up to 700℃. Its color changed from black to red. The changes were then recorded. All the data were saved in a smart system to make a digital model of the brake system for calculations (计算). 

⑤Besides having a better braking system, the CR450 has the same noise level as the CR400. Moreover, it is 12 percent lighter and 20 percent less energy-consuming (耗能的), according to CCTV News. With all its advantages, people are getting excited about the train's debut (首次亮相), which is planned to be within this year.
