广东省宝安中学教育集团海滨中学2024-2025学年九年级上学期10月考试英语试卷

 阅读下列短文,从下面每小题所给的A、B、C、D四个选 项中选出最佳选项。

Many students do an IQ test in their school. Even if they never see their results, they feel that their  IQ is what determines how well they are going to do in life. When they see other students doing better than them, they usually believe that those students have a higher IQ and that they can't change this fact. However, new research suggests that success is not simply the result of a high IQ.

While your IQ tells you how intelligent you are, your EQ tells you how well you use your intelligence. Professor Salovey says that when predicting someone's future success, their EQ might actually matter more than their IQ. For example, you may wonder why some of the smartest students in your class sometimes fail exams. Perhaps their failure is because of their low EQ.

It is believed that people with high EQs are open to new idea s and have positive altitudes(态度) towards life. They are seldom troubled by problems. As for people with low EQs, they often have trouble getting on with others and dealing with difficult situations. As a result, they have a harder time surviving in life.

The good news is that EQ has a lot to do with education. Compared with IQ that seems to be fixed(固定的) the moment you were born, EQ could be improved with right methods. For example, learning more skills in communication and understanding can be helpful.

To live a happy successful life, you need a high EQ— the higher, the better.

(1)、 The word"____ " has a similar meaning to the underlined word" determines".
A、causes B、decides C、creates D、compares
(2)、What can be inferred(推断) from Paragraph 2?
A、Only EQ influences someone's future success. B、The most intelligent students must have good grades. C、EQ plays a more important role in one's future success. D、Some students fail exams simply because of their low 1Q.
(3)、How is EQ different from IQ according to the passage?
A、EQ is less fixed than IQ. B、EQ can be tested while IQ can't. C、EQ is more difficult to be improved than IQ. D、EQ is more easily influenced by people's family than IQ.
(4)、What can people do to improve their EQ?

①Refuse others' new ideas.

②Try to understand others' feelings.

③Learn how to get along well with others.

④Communicate with others with more patience.

A、①②③ B、①②④ C、②③④ D、①②③④
(5)、In which part of a magazine can we probably read the passage?
A、Environment. B、Education. C、Business. D、Family.

English playwright Arthur Wing Pinero said,"Where there's tea, there's hope." Similarly, a Chinese saying goesthat "Firewood, rice, cooking oil, salt, sauce, vinegar and tea are theseven necessities to begin a day."

Tea is, without doubt, welcomed all overthe world. According to Statista, a German website for statistics (数据), global tea production reached about 5.8million tons in 2018. It has become the most consumed beverage (饮品) in the world – after water, of course.

According to the UN, tea is much more thanjust a hot drink. It's a big part of many cultures around the world. Youprobably know that people in China use top-grade tea to show respect whenreceiving important guests. Meanwhile, the British tradition of afternoon teais an important part of that country's identity. Making Malaysia's pulled teahas become a sort of art form, where drinkers take pride in its entertainmentaspects.

Apart from its cultural significance (意义), tea is also a medicine, used from ancienttimes to modern day. "Tea is cold and lowers the fire," Chinese MingDynasty herbalist Li Shizhen once said. The health benefits of tea are stillbeing discovered today: preventing heart disease, obesity and cancer have allbeen linked to drinking green tea, according to the National Center forBiotechnology Information in the US.

Hot or cold, bagged or loose-leaf,teais more than a drink– it's a social custom and also a magic medicine, alink to the past and a way of life.

When I was eight years old,my family moved from Edinburgh to London because my father started a new job here. The new place was far away from my grandmother,so we sometimes spent a couple of hours driving to Edinburgh to visit her when we missed her terribly. Her house was hundreds of miles away but the trip was never boring.

Grandma never had much. She didn't have expensive things,or live in a nice house. But I could feel with my heart that she loved us deeply,especially when my world was turned upside down two years later. Grandma knew that my mother and father divorced and I lived with my father. I would actually like to live with my mother.

I still remember those little things. Grandma allowed me to sit on the top of her kitchen table,getting me to dip(蘸)my fingers in the sugar bowl or drink from her coffee cup. Grandma had a beautiful bottle high on a shelf. One day after her death,I received a box. To my surprise,I found the bottle inside. She remembered once I had asked her for it.

Grandma saved her pennies in a glass jar(罐). She could have used those pennies herself but she kept them for my brother Tommie and me. And I was always excited to divide the pennies between my brother and me. "One for you,one for me. " I would repeat until the jar was empty. I don't remember how much we got on our visits,but I know that's how she loved us and cared about us when we were far away from her. So if I am lucky enough to find a penny lying on the ground one day. I am sure it is just the one from Grandma in heaven(天堂).

Those childhood memories have never gone away from me. Instead,they still give me great feelings through the years. A Grandma's love stays with a grandchild as long as he needs it. You know,love is just like that.

B.根据下列句子及所给的首字母,在答题纸上按题号写出个单词的正确、完全形式(每空限填一词)。

I live in a small town. Our town sits on a large {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(山)overlooking the ocean. It's a p{#blank#}2{#/blank#}good place to live, with fresh air and beautiful views. The p{#blank#}3{#/blank#} isn't too big, so it's quiet and peaceful. We have a small school, a few {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(市场),and a park where everyone gathers on sunny days.

Living in my town does have its challenges, though. Walking or r{#blank#}5{#/blank#} bikes can be tiring when you're heading uphill. Sometimes, it gets windy, and the wind can be much {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(强烈的)than down below.

There are some things we miss out on, l{#blank#}7{#/blank#}having a big shopping mall or a movie theatre nearby. But we have a strong community spirit, and everyone knows each other. We help each other out, and there's always someone to lend a hand, {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(尤其) when people get into trouble.

Overall, I think our living environment is nice. It's not {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(完美的),but it's home, and it's definitely better than living in a crowded(拥挤的), n{#blank#}10{#/blank#} city. We have fresh air, beautiful views, and a close-knit community. What more could you ask for?

Since September,many schools have more PE classes from three time a week to five or even more. This is in response to (响应) China's new standard(标准) on PE classes. The standard asks schools to make sure that 10 to 11 percent of all class time must be PE classes.

The standard not only(不但) asks students to do easy exercise, but also(而且) asks schools to give students other popular sports to do.

Ma Jiajun, 15, from Jilin, set a new world record(纪录) for "the most consecutive jump triples(连续三摇跳绳)" with 701 times. His teacher Chen Peng said that the school has always kept an eye on PE. With Ma as a role model now, students are more hardworking on not only jump rope(跳绳) but also other kinds of sports.

"At first tai chi(太极)was only needed during break time to show Chinese traditional culture, but students fell in love with it, " said Guo Yunxiang from a middle school of Shan Dong. Grade 8 students all need to do it, and there is a tai chi competition every year for Grade 8 students. "Different from ball games, tai chi can make me relaxed and help me get ready for the next class. " said Guo.

"I really enjoy hip-hop dance, " Ren Jianning, a high school student, said, "The class doesn't need any experiences, so anyone can learn it. "Every class they practice a part of the dance and in the next class put the parts together in to a whole dance. "Our shirts are all wet after class even on the coldest days of winter. " said Ren.
