On May 15,Zhang Rongqiao wiped tears from his eyes as China's Mars rover (巡视器) Zhurong landed safely on Mars. "I was so excited," said Zhang.
As the chief designer (总设计师) of China's Tianwen Ⅰ Mars mission (任务),Zhang was chosen by the journal Nature on Dec 16 as one of the top 10 people "who helped shape science" in 2021.Under Zhang,China made a huge step in interplanetary (行星向的) exploration. "I got a taste of the old Chinese saying ﹣ it takes 10 years to sharpen a good sword," Zhang told Nature.
In the Mars mission,Zhang led a team of thousands of researchers. The team was not only responsible for technical work like launches and flight control, but also for scientific research on Mars.
There were many difficulties. They knew little about the strange and complex environment of Mars. "We may not even know what we do not know about," Zhang told Nature.
During the process,Zhang played a key part in the decision to send an orbiter (轨道飞行器),a lander (着陆器) and a rover to Mars together in one shipment (运输) ﹣ making China the first country to do so. "That's a big leap (飞跃) because China is doing in a single go (what NASA took decades (数十年) to do)," said Roberto Orosei from the Institute of Radioastronomy of Bologna in Italy.
Zhang also made the important decision to land the rover on Utopia Planitia, where there are special landforms (地形) for scientists to study. He hopes that the mission can do as much research as possible and bring back "rich" information.
"The buck stops with him (他敢作敢当)," said David Flannery,an astrobiologist (天体生物学家) at Queensland University of Technology in Australia.
a.Launching the rover.
b.Controlling the flight.
c.Bringing back space junk.
d.Doing scientific research.
43-year-old spacewoman Wang Yaping made history— she is China's first teacher in space.

Wang, born in January,1980, is from east China's Shandong Province. She was a pilot in the People's Liberation Army Air Force with experience of about 1,600 hours of flying.
The world's first teacher in space was Christa McAuliffe, a 37-year-old middle school teacher from the United States in 1984 when she was selected from more than 11,000 applicants. But the space shuttle Challenger disintegrated (分裂) after 73 seconds into flight on Jan. 28,1986. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}.
"Wang's lecture was a pleasant surprise," said Zhang Xiaoguang, an astronaut in the three members of Shenzhou-10 spacecraft." {#blank#}3{#/blank#}Sometimes we'd like to give her a helping hand, but she just would not accept," said Nie Haisheng.
Like many young Chinese people, Wang likes photography, music and basketball. She said," {#blank#}4{#/blank#}We are looking forward to joining our young friends to learn and explore the mystical(神秘的) and beautiful universe."

Hot water makes warm, wet air called steam (水蒸气).Steam rises up to the cold plate. The cold air changes the warm steam into water. Then heavy drops of water fall. |
What happens in the sky? The sun heats the water. The warm, wet air rises up into the sky.If the warm, wet air meets the cold air, rain clouds form. When the clouds have enough water, the drops fall to the ground as rain. |

Many people often meet such difficult situations. They don't know the way{#blank#}1{#/blank#}a new place, and they are too shy to ask people for the ways. Here are some tips on how to ask for the way {#blank#}2{#/blank#}.
First, we must know some important and useful{#blank#}3{#/blank#}, such as "Excuse me" "Could you please ..." and "Thanks a lot". For example, when we want to ask someone strange for the way, we should say "Excuse me" at first. After we know how to get to the final place, we should say "Thanks" to{#blank#}4{#/blank#}. Next "Could you please ..." is often used while{#blank#}5{#/blank#}strangers. In some countries, people also use it in many different situations. It's also polite to shake hands with the strangers. It is important to learn{#blank#}6{#/blank#}to use right languages in different situations.
Second, we often need to take some useful things with us. They usually include pens, special maps, cameras, smartphones{#blank#}7{#/blank#}so on. Sometimes a pen can help us to reach the right place. We can write down the important words about the place, and then we can show them to the {#blank#}8{#/blank#}who we want to ask for help. Of course, smartphones can also help us a lot. The GPS on{#blank#}9{#/blank#}can help us find the correct way. Before we go to a strange place, we can get some photos about it online. Then we can show the photos about it to the strangers when we ask for directions.
All above are polite and useful ways to find the way to a place. Hope they are{#blank#}10{#/blank#}.
