Why do many Chinese people refuse to cut their hair during the first month of the lunar year?

This is because people in China believe that getting a haircut during the first lunar month will cause their mothers' brothers to die. Although it's not true, some people still believe it. So, after waiting for a month, people usually can't wait to cut their hair on Dragon Head-raising Day —the second day of the second lunar month. It is common to see people line up outside barbershops(理发店) on the day.

Dragon Head-raising Day is an important traditional Chinese festival. Ancient people believed that after this day, rainfall would increase because the rain-bringing Dragon King would wake up from his winter sleep. So that day is the start of spring and farming.

A well-known saying goes, "On the second day of the second-lunar month, the dragon lifts his head."

Besides cutting their hair, people do other things to celebrate this festival. For example, they eat food with "dragon names". People call noodles the dragon's bear d (龙须). Dumplings are the dragon's ears and spring rolls (春卷) are the dragon's scales(龙鳞).

Quan Hongchan comes from Zhanjiang，Guangdong. She is {#blank#}1{#/blank#}great diving（跳水） player in the world. 

Quan was born on March 28，2007. She is the {#blank#}2{#/blank#}（three）among（在……当中） the five children in her family.

Xiangsheng, or crosstalk, is a special and famous traditional art form and reaches people everywhere. It is popular with the children, the young and the old in China. It first appeared in China during the Ming Dynasty.

As the earliest form of xiangsheng, dankou, is performed by an actor who mainly tells jokes or humorous stories. It's known as qunkou when it is performed by three or more people. But most of the time, xiangsheng is performed by two actors, which is called duikou. The two actors usually discuss some serious subjects in a relaxing way to make people laugh.

Xiangsheng is not only a kind of comedy, but also an art form that needs skills and creativity. There are four key skills in xiangsheng—shuo, xue, dou, chang.

Shuo means speaking or talking. Actors usually show off their speaking skills by saying out many names in one breath, such as Chinese dishes. Tongue twister is also a favorite way for xiangsheng actors to show their skills.

Xue, or imitating (模仿), is usually a very interesting part of xiangsheng and actors can imitate the sounds of different animals and the dialects in different parts of the country. Xiangsheng actors also often imitate the movement and behaviors of other people.

Dou, teasing, in xiangsheng means telling jokes. Actors usually try their best to prepare a punch line (笑点) and use it at the end, which is called doubaofu.

Chang, or singing, is a way for xiangsheng actors to show their vocal skills to draw (吸引) the attention of people. Usually, they sing famous Chinese operas. They also sing popular songs to make young people enjoy it.

Xiangsheng is a special and interesting art form that has become an important part of Chinese culture. And it can also make people around the world have a deeper understanding of Chinese language and culture.

Dogs really are man's best friends, and they are very useful in some ways. 

A new study said that dogs can smell(闻) if people are feeling stressed(有压力的). They can smell the difference in breath(呼吸) and sweat(汗液) from people. Then they can tell if people are. stressed or not. It could be 93.75 percent right! A study from scientists at Queen's University Belfast, UK, said this. 

Scientists got breath and sweat from people both before and after doing a hard maths problem. They looked at the people's heart rate(心率), blood pressure(血压) and stress level(压力水平) in the study. The dogs found stress in 675 of the 720 people, that is 93.75 percent of the people, reported Australian news. 

Stress makes people's breath and sweat different. Dogs can smell that difference, said the study's writer Clara Wilson. In the study, she also said this finding helps us know how dogs may know people's feelings.
