Spring Clean-up Day, Rockland It's the best way to welcome spring and to help to clean up the town we all live in! Here in Rockland we have a Spring Clean-up Day every year in May. Spring Clean-up Day this year will be on May 20th. It will start with a town clean-up at 8 o'clock in the morning, and a tree planting activity in Rockland Park is to follow in the afternoon. One thousand young trees are sure to make it greener and prettier. We will divide the people coming to help into eight teams for eight different areas. As usual, we will provide gloves, rubbish bags and other cleaning tools. You will also get free lunches and T-shirts when the clean-up ends at noon. We are going to have a competition to see which team can pick up the most rubbish. Bring your kids with you. It is a great chance to teach them to care about the environment around us. Amanda's report I went on a holiday on the beach this summer holiday. My brother and I played volleyball and built castles(城堡) on the beach. At the end of the summer holiday, my parents took me to the water park and we went swimming. It was really fun. I hope to have another holiday like that. |
Maxwell's report I went on a car trip with my dad this summer holiday. We drove a long way. I read a book called The Hardy Boys on the way. It was an exciting story. I went to a summer camp with my best friend too. I had a busy, tiring but great holiday. |
Rui's report This summer holiday my family went to Britain. We stayed in a hotel in London. On the first day we enjoyed a full English breakfast at the hotel. Then we travelled around London on a red double-decker(双层的) bus. In the afternoon we visited the Tower of London. On the second day we visited the Buckingham Palace and looked at the famous Elizabeth Tower. At lunch we tried fish and chips and we liked it. In the afternoon we walked down Oxford Street and Regent Street and stopped in Trafalgar Square. The next morning we went to Madame Tussaud's Museum by subway. It was our last day of London travel. |
Rhyme in Songs Dear kids, welcome to my lesson! Do you like singing or writing songs? Today we are going to learn about rhyme(押韵)in songs. What is rhyme in songs? One way to learn about a song is to look at its rhyme. Rhyming words are words that sound the same, such as cat/hat, or lying/crying. This makes the song sound nicer and more musical. How to understand rhyme in songs? When a song has rhyming words at the end of lines, these are called "end rhymes". Here is an example of end rhyme: My cat is nice. My cat likes mice. Here are three different cat songs, each with a different rhyme way. The first is AABB, the second is ABAB, and the third is ABCB):
