The Torch Festival(火把节) is a traditional festival among some ethnic groups (少数民族) in southwestern China. It {#blank#}1{#/blank#}falls on the 24th or 25th of June, with three days of celebrations. People believe fire has power to protect the growth of crops.
During the Torch Festival, every family needs to light a torch and hold it to walk around the fields. Big torches are made to appear in all villages.
