I had a summer camp with my classmates last year. 

Early in the morning, we gathered(集合) at the bus station. After saying goodbye to our parents, we got on the buses. It took us more than two hours to arrive at the campground. 

We got off the buses cheerfully. Laughing and shouting, we jumped and ran all over the place. It was the first time for us to be away from the parents. Some of us started to feel homesick(想家的). However, when the night party and dances began, the homesickness was gone. 

The next day, everyone rushed to the boating class, hoping to be at the head of the others. At first, my friends and I worked hard, but the boat wouldn't listen to us and kept going round and round. Then the teacher taught us how to work together. After many tries, we did much better, 

Swimming class was my favourite. It was about the hottest time of a day and the best time to stay in the cool water. The swimming teacher was a funny man, and during the class he often made us laugh happily. 

During the week I learnt a lot of new things and made many new friends. I also learnt how to take care of myself.

What I have learned from the story

Clever people always bring us new things. They make our life easy. Let's have a look!

It's no secret that there is a space problem in Manhattan. People build up higher and higher buildings because there isn't much land left and there is no room to build out. So people have been building lots of tall and thin buildings. Developers are trying to build higher and higher buildings. However, the government has made laws that don't allow developers to build too high buildings. 

Oiio Studio thinks about things differently, "What if our buildings were not tall but long?" So the founder of Oiio Studio, Ioannis Oikonomou, designed a U-shaped building, the Big Bend. It would be a very thin building. It would curve(弯曲) at the top and return to the ground. Oikonomou said he thought of the great idea because he learned from a piece of news. It said that a company made a lift that could travel in curves. So he designed the Big Bend. He thought it as "the longest building in the world". It would be 4, 000 feet from end to end and would need a different lift system. 

"We can't change the law, ▲____. So if we can bend( 使 弯 曲 ) our building, we would be able to build one of the most amazing buildings in Manhattan, "Oiio Studio said. 

The Big Bend is just an idea for now. Oikonomou has sent the plans to a few companies, and is looking for developers. If successful, they will build the Big Bend around West 57th Street, just to the south of Central Park. 

There's a video online: a young girl, with an old man sitting on her shoulder (肩膀), is watching the national flag-raising ceremony (升国旗仪式) at Tian'anmen Square (天安门广场). The girl is ZhangBaige and the old man is her 1 Zhang Shuangqi.

One day in 1997, on his way home from work in Luoyang, Henan, 50-year-old Zhang Shuangqi 2 a baby girl on the roadside. Zhang took the girl home and raised (抚养) her as his daughter. He gave her a 3 Zhang Baige.

Zhang had no money, no family and no experience in raising a child. Raising a baby made his life 4 . The man took on different jobs at the same time to make a living.

In the poor family, Zhang Baige managed (尽力完成) to 5 . Although she did not go to college after high school, she worked hard. Now she can give her father and herself a good 6 . To spend more time with her father, who is now 75 years old, Zhang Baige decided to travel around the 7 with him. He always likes to see places away from home.
