Companies these days spend thousands of dollars on their computer security. They buy the best firewalls and computer programs. However, Kevin Mitnick thinks the biggest danger these days is not a weakness in technology.

In the 1990s, Kevin Mitnick was an infamous hacker (黑客). He hacked into government and corporate computer systems. After being punished and sent into prison, Mitnick decided to use his skills in a different way. He started his own computer security firm. He now advises people on how to keep their computers safe.

According to Mitnick, the biggest danger to security is people. However, by this he doesn't mean hackers. In fact, he means the people using the programs. "If an attacker can get one trusting person to give his or her information, the attacker gets in. All that money spent is basically wasted." A hacker can get around everything with just one person within the company.

Unfortunately, people are still too trusting. In a recent test of the US tax office (the IRS), security experts called 100 managers. They posed as IRS computer technicians. The experts were able to fool 35 of the managers. They gave both their passwords and IDs. In the hands of real hackers, this would have been a disaster!

Teachers help us to be good students and people. So we should thank them for their work. In China, we have Teachers' Day on September 10th. On that day, we say thanks to our teachers. But how do students in the US thank their teachers?

Schools in the US have a whole week in May to appreciate their teachers! Teacher Appreciate Day is on Tuesday of that week. They have parties with gifts and snacks that week. Students in the US like to give small gifts to their teachers, and the teachers love getting thank-you notes from their students. Teachers also like getting trinkets from students.

Should we say thanks to our teachers only on Teachers' Day? No. We should thank our teachers all the time. Always show our love to our teachers. It helps them do a good job.

A good breakfast is very important. You will understand it. By breakfast time you have not eaten anything for twelve hours. Your body needs energy for morning activities(活动). One good breakfast can serve enough energy. It should be rice or bread, an egg. milk and fruit. On a cold morning, a cup of hot milk is necessary(必需的). A good breakfast helps you to smile more easily. It helps you to be more friendly and also to work better and play more happily. Your whole day will be more fun after you have enjoyed a good breakfast.

What does a lifelong learner look like?

Lifelong learners never think of themselves as the greatest experts(专家)in anything. They continue to learn and bring a great deal to the groups they belong to. What does a lifelong learner look like? Here are some of their main characteristics(特征).

They are knowledge seekers. They are always searching for much information on a topic they're interested in and looking for new experience or opportunities to improve their knowledge or skills.

They are social and self-directed learners. They like taking different courses and taking part in discussions around subjects they are interested in. ____ They also know their own learning styles, and their strengths and weaknesses. They can plan and organize their own learning.

They are critical(批判性的)thinkers. They always use a lot of ways to analyze(分析)and synthesize(合成)information. From their research they judge the information to see if it is useful for the question at hand.

They are problem solvers. They will meet different problems while learning. However, they usually see problems as challenges and life experiences and try to stand above them.

Different countries have different customs and cultures. Every culture around the world has different customs and ways of communicating. When you learn a language, you learn more than words.

In China, people are used to saying"sorry" to show that they regret doing something wrong. But it's very proud for American people to have polite manners towards one another in public. They often use the word"sorry"— even when they don't really mean it! Usually, if they want to ask a stranger for the time, they will start by saying"Sorry to trouble you." If they' re five minutes late for the appointment, they will greet the person by saying"Sorry, I'm late!" It's quite different in China. They use the word"sorry" in so many different situations that the meaning of the word has changed a little over time. The two main dictionary definitions(定义) of"sorry" are:1) feeling sad for someone else because of their problems or bad luck;2) feeling regret because you' ve done something wrong.

So what does"sorry" really mean? And why do western people use it so much? Well, in western culture, saying"sorry" is a way to be polite. It's also a very clever way to get what they want. If you want to borrow something from others, you'd better say"sorry" to them about something. Or it's hard for you to get what you want. So maybe saying"sorry" is not only just being polite, but also a good method to get what you want!
