A dentist (牙医) was starting his in work in the morning. Suddenly a man ran in. His face was red and he could only say "Quick! Quick!" The dentist thought he must be very sick. His assistant(助手) helped to make man sit in a chair. The dentist gave the man some medicine to make him sleep. Then, he looked into the man's mouth and pulled out all the bad teeth. When the man woke up, he said in a low voice, "Quick, doctor, quick."

    "It's all right now," the dentist told him. "It's over."

    "You don't understand," said the man," I came to tell you that your house is on fire."

    He was 11 years old and went fishing every chance he got at his family's small house on an island in the middle of a New Hampshire lake.

    On the day before the bass(鲈鱼)season opened, he and his father were fishing early in the evening, catching sunfish and bass with worms. Before long, when his pole doubled over, he knew something huge was on the other end. His father watched with admiration as the boy skillfully worked the fish alongside the bank and he very successfully lifted the tired fish from the water. It was the largest one he had ever seen, but it was a bass.

    The boy and his father looked at the handsome fish, the fish jumped up and down in the moonlight. The father looked at his watch. It was 10 P.M.—two hours before the season opened. He looked at the fish, then at the boy. "You will have to put it back, my son," he said. "I have never seen such a big fish before." cried the boy. "There will be other fish," said his father. "The boy looked around the lake. No other fishermen or boats were anywhere around in the moonlight. He looked again at his father. Even though no one had seen them, nor could anyone ever know what time he caught the fish, the boy could tell by his father's voice that the decision was not be changed. He slowly worked the hook out of the lip of the huge bass and lowered it into the black water.

    That was 34 years ago. And he has never again caught such a beautiful fish as the one he landed that night long ago. But he does see the fish again and again—every time he comes up against a question of ethics(伦理). For, as his father taught him, ethics are simple matters of right and wrong. It is only the practice of ethics that is difficult.

    We would if we were taught to put the fish back when we were young. For we would have learned the truth. The decision to do right lives fresh in our memory. It is a story we will proudly tell our friends and grandchildren.

    Steven Jobs, the designer of Apple Computer, was not clever when he was in school. At that time, he was not a good student and he always made troubles with his schoolmates. When he went into college, he didn't change a lot. Then he dropped out. But he was full of new ideas.

    After he left college, Steven Jobs worked as a video game designer. He worked there for only several months and then he went to India. He hoped that the trip would give him some new ideas and give him a change in life.

    Steven Jobs lived on a farm in California for a year after he returned from India.

    In 1975, he began to make a new type of computer. He designed the Apple Computer with his friend in his garage. He chose the name "Apple" just because it could help him to remember a happy summer he once spent in an apple tree garden.

    His Apple Computer was such a great success that Steven Jobs soon became famous all over the world.

    Mrs. Smith is a teacher. Her house is not far from her school and she walks to school every day. All the students like her. Mrs. Smith walks to school on a very cold and windy morning. The cold wind cuts her face, and big tears go down her face. She arrives at the school and goes into the classroom. It is nice and warm there and Mrs. Smith is happy. But then a small boy looks at her and puts his arms round her and says, "Don't cry, Mrs. Smith. We all love you."

One evening, I invited a group of my friends to my house, {#blank#}1{#/blank#}them that I need their help for a study and it would take only a few minutes. 

They all sat down nervously (紧张地) when they saw a recorder （录音器）in my{#blank#}2{#/blank#}. Seeing that, I told a "lie" that there was only one small task (任务) for them—ｔhat was just to count from one to twenty. 

Then each of them in turn counted from one to twenty. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}it was over, I pretended (假装) to turn the recorder off and brought some drinks for them. Enjoying the drinks, we started to talk and joke{#blank#}4{#/blank#}.

Well, my{#blank#}5{#/blank#} task began—to record each one's speech （发言）for a study. 

Ben could hear strong winds outside his home in Alabama. Black clouds were making the sky very dark. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} The news on TV reported that a heavy rainstorm was in the area.

{#blank#}2{#/blank#} Ben's dad was putting pieces of wood over the windows while his brother was making sure the flashlights (手电筒) and radio were working. He also put some candles and matches on the table. Ben was helping his mom make dinner.

{#blank#}3{#/blank#}After dinner, they tried to play a card game, but it was hard to have fun with a serious storm happening outside. The family went to bed at 10 o'clock. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} He had to listen to some music to calm himself down. He finally fell asleep when the wind was going down at around 3:00 a.m.

When he woke up, the sun was rising. He went outside with his family and found the neighborhood in a mess. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}The family joined the neighbors to help clean up the neighborhood together. Although the storm broke many things apart, it brought families and neighbors closer together.
