Mary was ill yesterday. She went to see a doctor.

    "Doctor, I'm not feeling 1 at the moment," she said. "Every time I do my homework at night, I feel 2. If I walk to school, I have to sit down and 3  for ten minutes."

    The doctor looked 4 Mary carefully. At last he said, "5 serious, but I'm afraid you are 6 too much."

    "I don't understand. What do you mean?" asked Mary. "I mean you eat too much 7 ,"said the doctor.

    "Oh! You mean I'm too 8. That's a problem," said Mary. "What should I do if I don't want to be heavy?"

    "The answer is easy," said the doctor. "If you want to be thinner and healthier, you 9 eat a lot of food and you also should take more 10."

An old man died and left his son a lot of money. But the son was a foolish young man, and he quickly spent all the money, so that soon he had nothing left. Of course, when that happened, all his friends left him. When he was quite poor and alone, he went to see Mr. Smith, who was a kind, clever old man and often helped people when they had troubles.

    "My money has ran out and my friends have gone," said the young man. "What will happen to me?

"Don't worry, young man," answered Mr Smith. "Everything will soon be all right again. Wait, and you will soon feel much happier. "

    The young man was very glad. "Am I going to get rich again then?" he asked Mr. Smith.

    "No, I didn't mean that," said the old man. "I meant that you would soon get used to being poor and to having no friends. "

    I am a Chinese middle school student. I am 1 . I am in Class Three Grade Seven. I go to school by 2 every day.

    I live in Beijing. There are four people in my 3 . They are my father, my mother, my 4 and I. My father is a manager and my mother is a secretary in 5 office. My sister and I are 6 school.

    There are some 7 in my city. And there are many trees in front of 8 buildings. There is a garden 9 my house. There are many flowers in it. I like them very much. There is a playground near my home. I often 10 football in it.

    Peter and Mike are very good friends. They are in the same class at school. They often go to school and play t{#blank#}1{#/blank#}, and they often visit each other's home at weekends, too.

    Now they are b{#blank#}2{#/blank#} eight years old. Peter's mother has got a new baby. Peter is very glad to have a little brother, so he is always talking about his younger brother to Mike.

    At first Mike is very interested in the new baby because he doesn't have any sisters or brothers. But after some time he begins to get tired of Peter's endless talking about it. He also feels a little jealous (嫉妒) of his friend.

    One morning before class, when the two boys m{#blank#}3{#/blank#} at the school gate, Peter says to Mike cheerfully, "Do you know, Mike, my little brother, has put on nearly half a pound in weight this week."

    "That's not much at all," answers Mike. "I know a baby who can put on more than ten pounds a day."

    "Oh, that can't be t{#blank#}4{#/blank#}," answers Peter. "W{#blank#}5{#/blank#} baby is it?"

    "An elephant's," says Mike.

    Rosa liked making up stories. She was so sure that her classmates believed her from time to time. In fact, the whole class believed her! At first she supposed it was 1. Now, as she got up to talk before the class, she knew that making up stories had some way of coming back to make you sad.

    Rosa's parents were separated. Nine months out of the year, Rosa lived with her mother in an apartment on Anderson Street. But when summer 2, she went to her father's farm in Arizona.

    The farm was great! Rosa rode horses and helped with some farm work. Her father, however, was so 3 that he couldn't find time to go to other places with her. When she arrived each summer, her father would meet her at the airport and take her out to eat. And the day she went back to the city he would always buy her a present.

    When summer came to a close, Rosa returned to her mother. At school she heard lots of stories her friends told about their family trips. Rosa wished she had a 4to talk about too.

    Not long after 5 began, Rosa was looking through travel magazines in the school library. They talked about many exciting places, like England and Germany. When Rosa's friends asked what she had done in the summer, she made up something that was not6. Remembering the travel magazines she had read, she told her classmates that she and her father had gone to England.

    When the class began studying England, Mr Thomas asked Rosa to tell all the things she could 7 about her trip to England!

It's Sunday afternoon and the weather is sunny and hot, My friends and I are in a large and beautiful park. We' re having a good time. 

Jack and Tom are swinging. Steve, Alice, John and Tim are playing hide-and-seek (捉迷藏). Rose, Mary and Lisa are skipping (跳绳). They re good at skipping. Susan is reading a book. Tina and Kate are chasing after my pet dog. They 're running around happily. 

We can see a lot of people in the park. Some are running and some are walking slowly. Look!

A boy and a girl are drawing pictures. Their parents are sitting next to them. They' re talking about something. 

Everyone is having a good time in the park. The park is a great place to have fun.
