我国首次立法保护长江,现有一则有关立长江保护法的新闻,请根据新闻内容完成下面的信息卡,每空限填一词。

You may have heard the saying "The Yangtze River is China's mother river." The Yangtze is almost 6,400 km long. It is the world's third-longest river and covers one-fifth of China's land area. The Yangtze River Economic Zone (长江经济带) covers 11 provinces and cities, making up about 40 percent of China's total population and GDP.

On Dec. 26, 2020, Chinese government passed the Yangtze River Protection Law, which took effect on March 1, 2021. It is the first law to protect a waterway in China, CGTN noted.

The "mother river" is in great need of protection because something is wrong with it. For example, due to overfishing and water pollution, the river's Chinese Paddlefish (白鲟) has died out after keeping alive for 150 million years. There's more and more land becoming desert and land pollution near the upstream part of the river in Qinghai province, Xinhua reported.

举一反三
Idioms are phrases and sentences that do not mean exactly what they say. Even if you know the meaning of each word you see or hear, you may not understand the idiom because you don't understand the culture behind it.
For example, if an American boy asks his mother what's for dinner tomorrow, she may say “I'll play it by ear”, that means she doesn't have plans for dinner and she will decide later. "Play by ear" used to mean playing music using the sheet music, but now people often use it when they're not talking about music.
There're many idioms in English. If you learn to use them, your English will be more vivid and colorful. English idioms are more common in spoken English. They can be difficult to remember sometimes. Next time when you hear somebody saying to you, "Give me a hand", you don't necessarily stretch out your hand to him/her, but you do need to be helpful. And when the situation is out of hand, you usually can do very little to manage all that. What about a green hand? It's not about the color of your hand! You're a green hand when you are very new at your work and don't have much experience. If you and your partner always work together hand in glove, you two definitely work together very well.
Can you guess the meanings of some common English idioms to do with parts of your body?

任务型阅读

As teenagers, you have a lot of dreams. These dreams can be very big, such as winning the Nobel Prize, or they can be small. You may just want to become one of the top ten students in your class.

Once you find a dream, what do you do with it? Do you ever try to make your dream real? Making our dreams real is life's biggest challenge(挑战).

You may think you're not very good at some subjects, or that it is impossible for you to become a writer. These kinds of thoughts prevent you from being successful.

In fact, everyone can make his dream come true. The first thing you must do is remember the dream in your mind. Don't let it leave your heart. Keep telling yourself what you want. Do this step by step and your dream will come true faster because a big dream is made up of small ones. Please never give up.

You may have difficulties on the road to your dreams. But the biggest comes from yourself. You need to decide what is the most important.
