Every year, a magazine called Executive Travel organizes a competition to find the best airline of the year. Travelers from all over the world are invited to vote for the most punctual(准时的), the safest and the friendliest airline. The competition also invites them to tell their most frightening stories during their travels. Now let's read some travelers' tales of1 flying experiences.

    One traveler shared his story which happened on an African airline. The flight had been overbooked(超额预定).The flight staff picked the2 out by saying that all passengers with boarding cards run around the plane twice; the 3 getting the seats.

    Another overbooked flight that was going from Heathrow Airport to America gave a traveler a bit of a shock. Unfortunately, his suitcase had gone to Los Angeles and wasn't able to be sent to him before the meeting. So he had to attend the meeting in a thick suit, a heavy overcoat and a fur hat.

    Stephen Hawking is a scientific giant after Albert Einstein. On 14 March, 2018, the world-famous British scientist died at 76 in Cambridge, UK.

    Stephen Hawking was born on 8 January, 1942 in England. When he was a boy, he 1 to study how things worked. His father wanted him to 2 a doctor, but he didn't want to. He had great 3 in science.

    Last year, I went to a summer camp in the United States with my classmates. It was my first time to go abroad.

    I lived with a host family in Los Angeles for five days. My host family was friendly and gave me lots of advice. For example, they said I should say "excuse me" if I have to interrupt (打断) someone or ask for directions.

    I also took some classes. They were different from the classes I had had back home. In the US, each class is like a seminar. Students join groups, speaking freely and creating a cheerful atmosphere (氛围). I had to work hard to learn more vocabularies, so I could better communicate with my international classmates. I used to pay little attention to my word usage (使用), but now I pay more attention.

    During my visit, I also went to some famous universities in Boston, New York and Washington, D. C. We learned about the history behind the universities. At MIT (麻省理工学院), we saw lots of names on a wall in the hall. The tour guide told us they were the names of students who had lost their lives during wars. I was inspired (鼓舞) by the fact that they fought for their country.
