It was the beginning of a new term. As a 1  teacher in that school, I didn't know any of the students. A little girl was standing at the gate of the classroom. She looked very shy.

I walked up to her and2 why she stood there. But she said nothing. Then a boy shouted, “She is from Grade Four, the worst student in her grade.”I looked at the little girl. She didn't seem to be the smart kind. I 3 why her teacher asked her to stay in Grade Three. I took her hand and 4 her into the classroom.

“Sit here. Now you are my student and I'm your teacher,” I said. She still said nothing, but suddenly began to cry.

 I later learnt that her parents died in a car accident. She became sad and didn't like talking to others after that.

 She learnt very   5. I gave her respect(尊重) and never looked down upon (鄙视) her as I know everybody deserves(值得) respect. I helped her after school, and she was making 6   little by little. As time went by, she was not as  7 as before. At the end of the term, she seemed to have forgotten all her sadness.     I sat with my friend in a well-known coffee shop. As we enjoyed our coffee, a man entered and sat down beside us. He called the waiter and ordered, "Two cups of coffee, 1of them there on the wall." We heard this with great 2 and saw that he was served with one cup of coffee but he paid for two. As soon as he left, the waiter3 put a piece of paper on the wall saying "A Cup of Coffee". While we were still there, two other men had two cups of coffee but paid for three. 4 the waiter did the same thing. It seemed that this was usual at this place. However, it was something strange for us. Since we had nothing to do with the5, we finished our coffee, paid and left.

    After a few days, we again had a 6to go to this coffee shop. While we were enjoying our coffee, a man entered. The way this man was dressed did not match the 7 of this coffee shop. As he seated himself, he looked at the wall and said, "One cup of coffee from the wall." The waiter served coffee to this man with the same8. The man had his coffee and left without paying. The waiter took off a piece of paper from the 9 and threw it in the dust bin. Now there was no 10 for us. The great kindness for the people in need shown by the people of this town filled up our eyes with tears.

    One evening a young woman walked on the beach. She 1 to see the footsteps（足迹） she had left in the sand, but they had already been washed away by the water. When she turned to continue her walk, She was surprised to see an old woman 2 by a fire.

    She walked up to the old woman and asked,”Where did you come from? I didn't see you here a minute ago.

    As the young woman sat down beside the fire, the old woman handed her a book.     “Does this mean my life ends tonight?” she asked.

    At that time the old woman took the book into her hands and began to tear(撕掉)each of the pages that had words out of the book. She then threw 7 into the fire until all left were empty pages. She handed the book of empty pages to the young woman.

    “You see,” she said, “just as the water washed away your footsteps in the sand, your past is forever gone. What you 8 have is here and now.     Tongtong is three years old. She likes1English very much. Her mother2 English in a high school.

    Tongtong likes to3English cartoon videos. She plays games with her dolls and4with them in English. She learns a lot by watching the videos. Sometimes she can5but doesn't know the6. When her mother comes back home，she will tell Tongtong what the words and sentences mean.

    Tongtong's mother thinks that interest is important，and7is more important. Tongtong has great interest in English speaking. She can learn to speak by8and listening. But she should have chances(机会)to use it. So her mother tries to talk with her in English at home and takes her to the 9at school. Though Tongtong makes many mistakes，her English improves10.
