There was a farm in a small country. The farmer's daughter had to carry fresh milk to customers in various villages, one of{#blank#}1{#/blank#}was a priest(牧师). {#blank#}2{#/blank#}（reach）his house, the milkmaid had to cross a stream. People crossed it by raft(竹筏).

    One day the priest, finding it arrived very late, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(scold) the poor girl. “What can I do?” she said. “I started out early from my house, {#blank#}4{#/blank#}I had to wait a long time for the boatman to come.”

The priest didn't believe her, so they went together to the water and the milkmaid began to walk over{#blank#}9{#/blank#}. Looking back, the milkmaid saw the priest floundering(踉跄) in the water.

     “Sir!”she cried. “You are uttering the name of God, but all{#blank#}10{#/blank#}while you are holding up your clothes from getting wet. That is not trusting in God.”

    Elias was born in the 20th century when the black people were put in to a miserable position {#blank#}1{#/blank#}they had no rights at all. Elias, like most black people in South Africa, had little {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(educate)and was worried {#blank#}3{#/blank#} whether he would become out of work. This was the very reason {#blank#}4{#/blank#} he met Mandela. Mandela always encouraged him not to lose heart.

    At that time, black people had no rights of {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (vote). They couldn't get jobs they wanted. The parts of town in which they had to live were decided by white people. They were sent to the poor areas {#blank#}6{#/blank#}no one could grow food.

    Nelson Mandela organized the ANC Youth League to fight against the {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(govern). They first broke the law in a {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (peace) way.

    When it was not allowed, they decided to answer violence with violence. So Elias joined the ANC Youth League, helping Nelson Mandela blow up some government {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (build). Elias {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (strong) believed what he did would help them achieve their dream of making black and white people equal.

    There is one all-important law of human conduct. If we obey that law, we shall almost never get into trouble. In fact, that law, if {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (obey), will bring us countless friends and constant happiness. But the very instant we break the law, we shall get into {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (end) trouble. The law is this: Always make others feel important. According to psychologist, William James, the ruling principle in human nature is the desire {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (appreciate). People have thought about the rules of human relationships for thousands of years before {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (discover) one rule—probably the most important rule in the world: Do to others as you would have them do to you.

    You want the approval of those with {#blank#}8{#/blank#} you come in contact. You want the recognition of your true worth. You want to have the {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (feel) that you are important in your little world. So let's obey the Golden Rule, recognize others' importance and recognize it {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (honest). When? Where? The answer is: all the time, everywhere.

    Last fall, Florida State football player, Travis Rudolph, made headlines. When he made sure that he was going to the Giants, he was completely excited."

She spent decades researching children's development and finally {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(find) that parents often focused too much on what their children would be as adults. The harm is that parents and their children may become{#blank#}7{#/blank#} (anxiety), tense or unhappy.

    "We're so concerned about our children {#blank#}8{#/blank#} we think have difficulty mastering their own future that we're unwilling to allow them to {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (free) explore the world." she says. The truth is that the {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (little) that parents worry about outcomes, the better their children may live in life.
