A friend wrote me a letter a few weeks ago. He felt1at the time. He2his letter with this question: "We can't really change this crazy world we live in, can we?" I3to him and started my own letter with these words: "Yes, we most certainly can!"

    I can still remember someone who changed my world. She was the4teacher at my primary school. I liked her music class and I wanted to impress her.5, I didn't know how to play any instruments.

    One day, she let me try playing her guitar. I6my best, but could only stumble along(断断续续地弹奏). When I finished playing, I put my7down. "I guess I am not very good," I told her. She looked at me with her 8eyes, smiled at me and said, "We are all good at something. You just need to find out9you are good at. Then, you can share it10the world."

    11simple words changed me. They12a seed(种子)in my heart that continues to grow to this day. They made me realize that I had something good inside of me. I just had to find it and share it.

    Why are "brick and click" companies, like Barnes & Noble, Toys "R" Us, and Walmart so successful? First, many customers know and trust their names. Their websites, like walmart.com, are easy to remember. These companies also have a lot of experience. They know how to run a successful business.

    In the world of e-commerce, companies are fighting for every dollar and every customer. Will "brick and click" companies win the war? Only time will tell.

    Mrs Wilson, the middle-aged wife of a rich businessman, invited some of her friends to lunch. She was very anxious to try a new way of cooking a fish dish, and she was very pleased with herself when the dish was ready. As the dish was very 1, she put it near the open window to cool it for a few minutes.2, five minutes later, when she came back for it, she was frightened to find her neighbour's cat, Chester, at the dish. What would happen to her friends? She at once phoned the family doctor for advice. The doctor told her to telephone each of the visitors to meet him at the hospital as soon as possible. Finally, the danger was 6. Once again Mrs Wilson was alone in her armchair in the living room, still tired but7happy. Just then, the phone rang. It was her neighbour. "Oh, Millie, her neighbour cried, "Chester is dead. She was killed by someone in the car and thrown in your garden. "

Mobile phones are becoming more and more popular not only with adults but also with students. However, they also have become a problem for middle schools in the last few years.

Some children have got mobile phones as Christmas or birthday gifts, and more will ask their parents to buy phones for them.

Many students like mobile phones because they are easy and quick. Some parents feel it convenient because they can get in touch with their children. Some teachers think using mobile phones is a distraction(分心的事)to students during school hours and mobile phones also give them much trouble in their classrooms. Sometimes students send phone messages to cheat(作弊)during exams. A new study says that some teenagers even hurt their fingers because of the over-use of mobile phones. They keep using mobile phones for more than ten hours during a day.

Many teachers suggest that students should not have phones at school, but if there is a good reason, they can leave their phones at the school office. Many people think they understand why parents would want their children to have them, but they agree school should let the students know when they can use their mobile phones.

Grace lives in Oklahoma. She is only six years old, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} she already has big ideas for helping other kids!

So far, she {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (raise) over $ 17, 000! Someday maybe she will be able to send toys to all foster kids in her country.

Hansel and Gretel

Gretel heard their stepmother planning to kill her and her brother. But Hansel had a plan to {#blank#}1{#/blank#} himself and his sister. He went to get some white stones before he went to bed that night. The next day, the husband sent the children to the {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. Hansel {#blank#}3{#/blank#} the stones as they walked. Later that night, they could see the stones because of the{#blank#}4{#/blank#}moonlight/moon. The stones showed them the way home. After getting home, their{#blank#}5{#/blank#} told them to go to the forest again when they {#blank#}6{#/blank#} up. Hansel wanted to get more stones, but she did not let him go out. The next morning, the husband sent the children to the forest. Hansel had no stones, so he dropped {#blank#}7{#/blank#} of bread. But the birds ate them, so Hansel and Gretel were {#blank#}8{#/blank#} in the forest.  They walked {#blank#}9{#/blank#} they saw a house made of food. Hansel wanted to eat the house, but then they heard the {#blank#}10{#/blank#} of an old woman coming from the house.
