    Everybody has dreams, but not all these dreams can come true easily.  Read on and you can make your dream come true.

    Break your dream down into manageable “projects”. Achieving a dream can be complex and you might need to complete a number of different “projects” as you go forward.  Remember that you need to have all the parts and tools you need in order to be successful in achieving your dream.

    Take action on each “project”. Start taking action on each part of your dream. If you can, work on all of your projects at the same time—for example, try to do something for each project each week.  And keeping yourself moving forward is one of the best ways to motivated toward achieving your goal.

     Find out how others have accomplished their goal. Do some research to find out how other people have achieved the same dream. Seek out the people who have achieved their dreams and talk with them or read their stories. Find out what they learned from their journey, and what they like best about achieving their dreams. You can find out about other successful dreamers by reading their biographies, watching documentary films, or reading about people on the Internet.

    Always know what's next on your list. As you are taking action on the different projects that lead you to your dream, be sure that you always know what to do next. Being unsure of your next step is one common way that people get stuck in their progress toward a goal.  Be sure that you will be ready for each one.

A. Be inspired by others.

B. People give up their dreams for this or that reason.

C. Manage your lime so that there is room for your dream.

    Last of all, try to understand why change upsets you so much. It's hard to change and accept it if you're unclear why it makes you so uncomfortable or unsettled{#blank#}4{#/blank#}This, as a result, might help stop some of your anxiety about change. Consider the following{#blank#}5{#/blank#} Does the change make you feel like everything you know about the world is falling apart?     Every animal sleeps, but the reason for this has remained foggy. When lab rats are not allowed to sleep, they die within a month.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}

    One idea is that sleep helps us strengthen new memories. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} We know that, while awake, fresh memories are recorded by reinforcing (加强) connections between brain cells, but the memory processes that take place while we sleep have been unclear.

    Support is growing for a theory that sleep evolved so that connections between neurons (神经元) in the brain can be weakened overnight, making room for fresh memories to form the next day.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}

    Now we have the most direct evidence yet that he is right.{#blank#}4{#/blank#} The synapses in the mice taken at the end of a period of sleep were 18 per cent smaller than those taken before sleep, showing that the connections between neurons weaken while sleeping.

    If Tononi's theory is right, it would explain why, when we miss a night's, we find it harder the next day to concentrate and learn new information — our brains may have smaller room for new experiences.

    Their research also suggests how we may build lasting memories over time even though the synapses become thinner. The team discovered that some synapses seem to be protected and stayed the same size. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} "You keep what matters," Tononi says.

A. We should also try to sleep well the night before.

B. It's as if the brain is preserving its most important memories.

C. That's why students do better in tests if they get a chance to sleep after learning.

D. Similarly, when people go for a few days without sleeping, they get sick.

E. The processes take place to stop our brains becoming loaded with memories.

F. Tononi's team measured the size of these connections, or synapses, in the brains of 12 mice.

G. "Sleep is the price we pay for learning," says Giulio Tononi, who developed the idea.

    Unit the 1980s, scientists were trained to ignore animal pain, according to the belief that the ability to feel pain was associated only with higher consciousness. However, today, scientists view humans as a species of animals, and largely accept that many species are capable of some level of self-awareness. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

    If you hit another person in the face, you can estimate their pain level by what they do or say in response. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Gradually, scientists have developed a set of indicators of pain response in non-human animals. Demonstrating a response to a negative stimulation and displaying protective behavior of injured areas are two major signs.

    {#blank#}3{#/blank#} Some researchers argue lobsters (龙虾) are too dissimilar to vertebrates (脊椎动物) to feel pain. Nonetheless, lobsters do satisfy all of the standards for a pain response. Lobsters guard their injuries, and learn to avoid dangerous situations. They are even believed to possess some level of consciousness. In result, today most scientists agree that injuring a lobster causes physical pain.

    Due to growing evidence that the lobsters may feel pain, it is now illegal to boil lobsters alive or keep them on ice in some countries. Even in locations where boiling lobsters remains legal, many restaurants prefer more humane methods. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} To satisfy picky diners, more restaurants rule out the cruel cooking methods.

    Currently, the most humane tool for cooking a lobster is the CrustaStun. This device electrocutes (电击) a lobster. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} The following process of cooking is sure to cause no pain. In contrast, it takes about 2 minutes for a lobster to die from boiling water during which time pain lasts.

A. But huge disagreement exists.

B. The creature instantly loses consciousness in half a second.

C. It beats the former method by saving chefs' effort in cleaning the creature.

D. It's difficult to assess pain in other species because we cannot communicate as easily.

E. People are coming to realize that other species might also enjoy the luxury of emotion.

F. Except for moral consideration, many chefs believe stress negatively affects the flavor (味道) of the meat.

G. Legal prohibition becomes the major consideration for restaurants when choosing a cooking method.

    Studies show that human beings and cats have been living together for about 9,500 years.

    {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Dogs are domesticated, meaning they have been trained to do what people want them to do.

    As cat owners know well, cats do not obey humans in the same way dogs do.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}

    As a result, many people have come to think that maybe cats simply do not understand human language. A report in the scientific journal Nature shows that cats understand human beings well enough to recognize their own names.

    The report describes a series of experiments with house cats in Japan. These tests involved having people say four words that were similar to a cat's name.

    Each word had the same number of syllables as the name and some of the some sounds. The cats seemed to lose interest after the speaker said a few of the words. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

    The cats moved their ears or turned their head when they heard their names. They also moved their feet gr bogies very little-not a surprising result. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} These animals reacted just as much to their own names.

    The researchers thought this was because visitors may give food to the cat or rub its back when it responds. Another finding was that a cat will react when a person who is not its owner says its name.

    "I think many cat owners feel that cats know their names, or the word "food".{#blank#}5{#/blank#}says Saito, who is a cat owner.The researchers hope that the findings from their study will help both cats and people.

A.Then the person said the cat's name.

B.In fact, some scientists claim that cats have trained us to take care of them.

C.They added that perhaps cats can learn words to warn them of dangerous things or places.

D.Dogs have lived with humans longer than cats.

E.The study was carried out by four researchers: Atsuko Saito, Yuki Ito, and Toshikazu Hasegawa and Kazutaka Shinozuka of the RIKEN Center for Brain Science in Saitama.

F.But until now, there was no scientific evidence to back that up.

G.In another part of the experiment, people said the names of the cats staying in a cat cafe

    Britons are well known for the amount of tea that they drink. The average person in the UK consumes around 1.9 kg of tea annually. That's around 876 cups of tea. Tea is drunk by all sections of society. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}The fast majority of tea is grown in India and China. So, how did it become an important part of British culture?

    {#blank#}2{#/blank#}At this time, British ships were exploring the world and came across the drink in China. It was not long before green tea was available to buy. However, this was only available to the richer sections of society.

    At the beginning of the 1700s,the amount of tea arriving in Britain increased gradually. Black tea arrived at this time. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}They soon discovered that it makes really well with a little milk and sugar, giving the drink a special British characteristic.

    In the 1800s Tea was still a product enjoyed only by people with money. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}This involves drinking tea with a snack around 4 p.m. to avoid feeling hungry between lunch and dinner. It is a tradition that is still going today, but has become less popular in recent times.

In the late 1800s, the price of tea decreased sharply as more tea began to arrive on ships from India and China. It was no longer a drink just for rich people. Tearooms—shops where you could buy and drink tea —started to appear across the country. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}At the start of the 20th century, Britons began to make tea in their homes whenever they felt like it. Kettles became essential in every kitchen.

A. At this time, they begin to have afternoon tea.

B. People in lower classes could not afford it.

C. Let's have a look at its history.

D. People enjoy drinking tea and socializing in these places.

E. But tea does not grow in Britain.

F. Tea arrived in London in the 1600s.

G. At first, people drank this tea exactly as it was in China.

Three simple keys to success

Being successful means different things to different people. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} My point is, the specifics involved in finding success can vary greatly, depending on your goal.

There are three basic components necessary for finding success, regardless of the specifics of your pursuit. And, since the desire for ownership is the driving force behind acquisition, I'll use the word OWN as my simple three-item method for success.

⒈ O-Opportunity: one of the most important components in finding success is being able to identify opportunity. It is to success what wind is to sailing. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}Identifying opportunity is the first step; awareness sets your sails for success while your motivation provides the wind.

⒉ W-Wisdom: By definition, wisdom is the accurate application of knowledge. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}It requires clear understanding, great insight and good judgment. Once opportunity is identified, you must use all your inner resources to seize it and make the most of it. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}Finding success when opportunity presents itself often means reaching out for help in areas where you have weakness.

⒊ N-Never give up: This might possibly be the most important for success. The key is to first break your goal down into workable parts so you don't feel pressured, and then to work each part at ease with both enthusiasm and purpose. It takes a lot of time, effort and determination to succeed. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

A. Being successful demands doing well.

B. But wisdom involves more than just knowing.

C. You simply can't have one without the other.

D. Having this attitude keeps you moving in face of trouble and becomes the driving force.

E. Besides, wisdom means knowing your limitations.

F. You'll finally succeed if you follow these steps.

G. The road to success is being largely determined by what result you want to achieve.
