    Many children in China are facing the same problem: iPad using is bringing problems to their eyesight. The problem is so common that newspapers even call the iPad the "No. 1 killer of children's eyesight!"

    "There are about 30 shortsighted children coming every day, "said Hu Dali, an eye doctor at Guiyang Aier Eye Hospital. "Half of those children have poor eyesight because they have played with phones and iPads for too long. "

    Doctors and scientists say children's vision（视觉）is not yet fully developed and their eyes get tired more easily. The screen of an iPad uses very bright（明亮的）LED backlight. If children look at an iPad screen for a long time, their eyes do not have time to rest. This will make their eyesight worse over time.

    Doctors advise that users should hold their iPads between 40-60 centimeters（厘米）away from them. The brightness of the screen should be comfortable for children. Parents should also stop their children from using an iPad for more than one hour every day.

    A new report shows what life might be like in 100 years from now. Experts on space and architecture(建筑), and city planners gave their ideas on life in 2116. Twenty－five years ago, we could not imagine how greatly the Internet would change our lives. Now the Internet has revolutionized the way we communicate and learn. They said the changes in the next century would be even more unbelievable.

    The way we live, work and play will be totally different from today. There will be many tall buildings, underwater cities, and holidays in space. People will work at home and have virtual(虚拟的) work meetings. People will have 3D printers to "print" everything they need at home, such as food, clothes and so on. There will also be less need for doctors. Our home health robot will tell us what the problem is and give us treatment. We will also go into space for holidays and get resources that we have used up on the Earth. Researchers interviewed 2，000 adults about the predictions, and most of them thought they were most likely to happen!

I went to Grand Canyon (大峡谷) National Park in July 2012 for the first time and I knew I wanted to work there as a park ranger（管理员）. Park rangers protect the park's animals, plants, land, buildings, and people.

Now, as a park ranger for Grand Canyon National Park, I share the science, history and beauty of this park with thousands of visitors from around the world.

National parks are like outdoor museums. Park rangers have all kinds of jobs, depending on where they work and what they studied during college. I teach school field trips（实地考察）, work at visitor centers and help people stay safe during their visit.

My favorite part of my job is showing children their first look at the Grand Canyon during school field trips. Children are often amazed at the canyon's size and colors. Sometimes, they think it looks like a painting.

Being a park ranger requires a lot of energy. I walk several miles and talk with hundreds of people each day. Park rangers must enjoy working with people and speaking in front of groups. Nearly 5 million people visit Grand Canyon National Park every year.

Park rangers must also be prepared for any situation. Recently, I broke a traffic jam(堵塞). It was caused by a huge elk（麋鹿）standing in the road. Elks can become dangerous when they get scared, so I asked visitors to stop their cars and take pictures from far away. Believe it or not, I also help protect people from monkeys. It is not allowed to feed animals in national parks. But sometimes, visitors try to feed monkeys.

    O. Henry, a famous American writer of short stories, was born in North Carolina in 1862. O. Henry was a pen name. His real name was William Sydney Porter. When he was a young boy, he did not go to school for long because of being born in a poor family, but he tried to teach himself everything he needed to know.

   When he was about 20 years old, O. Henry went to Texas. There he tried different jobs. He first worked on a newspaper, and then had a job in a bank. But he got himself into some trouble. Some money went missing from the bank. O. Henry was believed to have stolen it, so he was sent to prison(监狱). During the three years in prison, he learned to write short stories. After he got out of prison, he went to New York and went on writing.

   He wrote mostly about New York and the life of the poor there. People liked his stories, because almost all of them finished with a sudden change. This made the readers surprised.

In a small Chinese town lived a poor young man named Liang.He loved 1 . One night, an old man with a long beard 2 Liang in a dream.He gave Liang a paintbrush.
