Some new car models are fashionable. Others can go a long way with only a little gas. But all are taking advantage of technology that is making driving safer and {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(easy).

    The new Ford Escape has technology that helps the car avoid crashes. A new control system changes the car's speed {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (keep) a safe distance from other cars on the road. It works {#blank#}3{#/blank#}using sensors that measure the Escape's distance from other vehicles.{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(drive) can connect to the Ford Escape's electronic system with their smartphone. The phone can start and track their car from anywhere.

    {#blank#}5{#/blank#}emergency vehicles are near, the Heedful Audio Alert System, or HAAS, will warn drivers. The device has a sensor{#blank#}6{#/blank#}detects（发现）the sound of an emergency vehicle siren（汽笛）. The device then {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(send) a warning to the driver's phone.

    A company {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(call) Sober Steering has developed a device to stop drunken drivers. The device can detect alcohol in the skin. If the driver's alcohol level is too high, {#blank#}9{#/blank#}will shut down the vehicle.

    Just as technology is changing life at home and at work, it {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(change) life on the road as well.

    Percy Shelley, an English poet, was born on August 4^th, 1792. He is {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(wide) thought of as one of the most important {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(figure) of the Romantic Movement in English literature. Shelley received early education at home and later, at the age of 12, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(admit) to Eton College, which has a long history of more than 500 years, {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(date) back to the 15^th century. Then he attended Oxford University shortly after he turned 18.

    As {#blank#}5{#/blank#} romantic poet, some of his poems, like Ode to the West Wind and Ode to A Skylark, are among the most famous in English. {#blank#}6{#/blank#}, in his own time, Shelley was very unpopular for his political and {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(religion) views. Fortunately, he successively(先后) met Byron and Keats and befriended with them during his tour around Europe after he married Mary Godwin, his second wife, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} later became famous as Mary Shelley, the author of the novel Frankenstein.

    About a month before his 30^th birthday, {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(welcome) his friend Leigh Hunt, Shelley sailed to Leghorn. During the stormy return voyage, his small boat sank and he drowned. It was not until days later {#blank#}10{#/blank#} his body was washed ashore.

    It's so close, and yet it always seemed so far away. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(get) to the rural district just a few hundred {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(meter) away on the other side of the bay, native people used to have to jump on a boat or drive about 160 kilometers－part of that journey on {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(dust) road.

    Now anyone wanting to get from downtown Maputo, capital of Mozambique, to Katembe, or vice versa, can do so easily, and in a matter of minutes, thanks to the longest twin­tower suspension bridge in Africa, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} hangs over Maputo Bay.

    "Mozambique had long planned to build a bridge linking the north and south of the bay, but nothing came of them because {#blank#}5{#/blank#} a lack of money and technology,"  said Wang Lijun, vice­president of China Road and Bridge Corporation (公司), which built {#blank#}6{#/blank#} bridge.

    The Maputo­Katembe Bridge, {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(open) in November after four years of construction, is part of the Maputo Bridge and Link Roads project which {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(build) by CRBC. It {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(be) 187 kilometers long and serves as an important highway that directly links Maputo to the border with South Africa, to the south.

    "By night, when the lights are on, it's {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(especial) impressive," Wang said, and as a landmark it could help develop tourism and attract overseas investment for Mozambique.

    One morning, I was waiting at the bus stop, worried about {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(be) late for school. There were many people waiting at the bus stop, {#blank#}2{#/blank#}some of them looked very anxious and {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(disappoint). When the bus finally came, we all hurried on board. I got a place next {#blank#}4{#/blank#}the window, so I had a good view of the sidewalk. A boy on a bike {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(catch) my attention. He was riding beside the bus and waving his arms. I heard a passenger behind me shouting to the driver, but he refused {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(stop) until we reached the next stop. Still, the boy kept {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(ride). He was carrying something over his shoulder and shouting. Finally, when we came to the next stop, the boy ran up to the door of the bus. I heard an excited conversation. Then the driver stood up and asked," {#blank#}8{#/blank#}anyone lose a suitcase at the last stop?" A woman on the bus shouted, "Oh dear! It's {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(I)." She pushed her way to the driver and took the suitcase thankfully. Everyone on the bus began talking about what the boy had done, and the crowd of strangers {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(sudden) became friendly to one another.
