Jason looked out the window of the school bus. Normally, he liked to count the number of dogs he saw on the way to school. They always looked so happy on their morning walks. But today was different.

    Jason had a test.

Jason had never taken a test before. He had heard about them, but tests were for big kids. Though now that he was in second grade, his teacher announced that the whole class would take a spelling test. She stood in front of the whole class and told everyone at once in a loud, clear voice. She explained that to do well on the test, the students would have to memorize their spelling words and rewrite them without any mistakes.

This made Jason feel very nervous. What would happen if he made a mistake? He was pretty good at spelling, but sometimes words sounded different than they looked. He practiced all of the words five times each last night. He hoped it was enough.

When Jason got to school, he didn't feel well. His stomach hurt. Jason went straight to the nurse's office, but the nurse told Jason that he wasn't sick.

“Sometimes when you're nervous or scared, it can make your tummy hurt,” the nurse said. “Try taking some deep breaths to relax. And good luck on your test!” And with that, the school nurse sent Jason to class.

“Oh, good!” Jason's teacher said when he walked in the door. "I'm glad you're here. We were just about to start the test." She handed Jason a piece of paper. It was numbered one to ten, but had no other writing on it.

Jason put his name at the top like he always did. Then the teacher said "Number one: friend." The students were supposed to spell the word "friend" in the first blank space. Jason did his best.

Jack, a clerk at the local bank, was wandering alone on the street. It was a cold, silent winter night. His mind was on his wife Linda, who had been in a car accident two months ago and was now lying in a hospital bed, waiting for more money for her operation. Jack had sold everything he had, and he had tried his best to borrow money from all the people and banks he could. But the real world is cruel.

A large amount of money was still needed. To Jack, it would mean a great deal of suffering to see his wife die without any help. "I have only one option left, "Jack said to himself. Then he went to the bank, his workplace, again. For several days, he observed the bank and planned a theft.

The next day, he went to work as usual. Everything seemed normal: he joked with his workmates and helped his clients as he always did. But no one noticed that he had brought a bigger suitcase to work, instead of the small one he always carried. At 5:00 pm, the bank closed, and the clerks and the guards had all gone home. However, at that moment, Jack was in the bathroom, and the guards didn't notice him, of course. When the noises coming from the street were replaced by silence and everything turned dark, Jack came out from the bathroom. He first cut the lines of the alarms and monitors with tools from his new suitcase.

He was all too familiar with the equipment since he had been working there for 8 years and had been studying the security system for the past 30 days. Using a special key and some other tools, he then easily opened the doors of the safes. The bank's security system wasn't very good, which allowed Jack to take a lot of money. Several minutes later, Jack left the bank with a heavy bag filled with money.

On a cold windy day, a poor boy tried to pay his way through school by selling goods door to door. Wandering on the street, he was not a successful seller. What's worse, he found that he only had one dime(一角硬币) left. His empty stomach reminded him constantly that for days he hadn't eaten anything. He had no choice but to beg for a meal at the next house. Hesitantly he knocked at door, thinking about what to say when it opened. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door. “What can I do for you?” asked the young woman. The boy paused for a while “Would you please give me some … a drink of water?” the boy dare not to look directly into her eyes. She looked at the bony boy and thought he might need something to give him energy so she brought him a glass of milk. His head rising and small hands taking the cup, he drank it up slowly, and then asked, “How much do I owe you?” “You don't owe me anything,” she replied with a warm smile on her face. “My mother has taught me never to accept pay for a kindness.” Deeply moved, he said sincerely, “Then I shall thank you from the bottom of my heart.” As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but it also increased his faith in God and the whole human race. As a matter of fact, he was about to give up and quit before that point.

Years later the young woman became critically ill. However, the local doctors were unable to give the effective medical treatment. Finally they sent her to a hospital in the big city, where specialists can be called in to cure her rare disease. Among those famous specialists, Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes. Immediately, he rose and went down through the hospital hall into her room.

On a rainy night in March 2013, my husband Reece went out to get a box that he had forgotten in his car. On his way back inside, he noticed a small shadow moving on the driveway. He walked towards it quietly, and found it was a small hedgehog(刺猬), all wet in the grass, eating mud. Reece quickly removed his jacket and picked it up. The hedgehog was very weak and unable to move about quickly. But he did not seem to be frightened; nor did he resist being scooped up (抱起).

Once he was inside, Reece called out to me, saying that he had something that would make my heart melt, and he was right! We named the hedgehog Alf, because, just like the TV show character of the"80s, he came out of nowhere. And, like Alf the alien, this little hedgehog was amazingly intelligent. Not only did he learn to eat his dinner and drink water from his bowls, but he also learnt to wait for us inside his little indoor cubby house and hop into his pet carrier whenever we took him out with us.

Alf knows us very well and recognizes both our voices. He does not roll into a ball or put his spines up. Every day he allows us to pat him. He loves playing with paper and towels and will bite and tug on the bed sheets if given a chance. Like all pets, Alf loves his treats, in particular small pieces of sugar-coated biscuits.

Unfortunately, in April 2014, I was in a car accident and had to spend two months in the hospital. And boy, did I miss Alf! Reece told me that Alf would search around the house for me, checking in places where I'd normally be, such as my desk, my favorite seat in front of the TV and even my side of the bed.

1)续写的词数应为150左右;

2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

A farmer grew some vegetables in his garden. One day his wife was ill and he had no money. He had to sell some cabbages and carrots in the market. "No, no, sir," the farmer said in a hurry. "When did you see the dead man?" "About seven last evening." "Did you see who killed the man?" "No, sir." The officer brought out a knife and asked, "Have you seen it before?" "No, sir." The officer became angry and told the policeman to beat him up and sent him into prison.
