    As high school students, we must spend the vast majority of our time in class and reading books. Still, spending time with friends is also necessary and good for us. Without a friend, our world would be a wilderness. What kind of friends should we pick?  Here are some of my opinions.

    We need to be careful.  We may consider some to be nice and feel like making friends with them. However, not all good people are matches for us. Rather than make friends with the popular students, we should spend time with those we have things in common with, or who will be there to listen to us. Moreover, we should be careful about students with many bad habits, since they could pass those habits on to us.

     No one is perfect. A friend without faults will never be found. Therefore, we should accept friend's shortcomings and be patient with them when they make mistakes since we're all on a journey to becoming better people. Gradually, our friendships will last longer and become more solid.

    We need to be honest.  However, it's better to be honest with friends, to tell them what is bothering us and seek their advice. Being honest will not annoy your friends.

    We need to be open-minded. None are so deaf as those who will not hear. So listen to others' ideas, whether you agree with them or not, and be happy to make friends with your friends' friends.

    These steps, if applied, will help you transform your lifestyle and productivity.

Look for ways to serve.

    I truly believe that giving meaningful service to other people is the greatest key to our personal happiness. It may be just a smile and a “hello”.{#blank#}3{#/blank#} It may be just a phone call to tell them “thank you for being a friend.” When we serve other people, we develop personal joy.

Find a purpose.

    The happiest people have one or more big “life goals”.{#blank#}4{#/blank#}When we have a big goal that we feel passionate about we become more excited to work on that goal every day.
