When you are curious about something and want to know more about it, you can use the way of asking questions. Asking questions is the first step to make discoveries and find interesting answers. The following steps can guide you during the research.

Step 1 Write down the subject that you are interested in on a piece of paper. Just get the main idea down. For example, you might write: Discover more about robots.

Step 2 Stop and think for a moment about what you have already known about your subject. List what you have already known like the sentences: The first robot appeared in the USA in 1959. A robot can do housework and act as a teacher. Sometimes a robot catches viruses(病毒) and causes a lot of problems.

Step 3 Write down questions about the robots on the paper: What might robots be like in the future? What other things can robots do for people? What kind of power will robots possibly use in five years?

Step 4 With your list of questions, you can now go to the nearest library or computer to begin your research. As you learn more about your subject, you will probably discover some new questions. For example, you might discover that robots can help scientists explore dangerous places, like the sea and outer space. How? What happened? Asking new questions can help you research your subject more widely.

举一反三
 阅读下列短文,根据短文内容从每小题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳答案。

Imagine that you have woken up on the first day of your vacation. You enjoy a delicious breakfast, take a walk on the beach, and read the morning newspaper as you drink coffee. You are feeling happy and relaxed. But you may start to feel bored by the time the late afternoon comes around!

If you have ever felt like this, you're not alone. It turns out that having unlimited (无限的) free time is not always as great as we expected. What is the best amount (数量) of free time for our happiness?

Researchers tried to answer this question by surveying tens of thousands of people, collecting data (数据) on how they spent their time and how happy they were. After looking at the data, the research team found that having less than two hours of free time a day, was not enough to be happy. People with under two hours of free time a day usually had more stress. It means that they were simply too busy with work to get their happiness.

The fact that being too busy cuts happiness is true. It might lead to the answer that more free time is simply better. Surprisingly, having a lot of free time is not a panacea (灵丹妙药) for happiness. People surely get a certain sense of joy from finishing tasks. Having more than five hours of free time a day makes us lose the sense of joy. It is in fact cutting our happiness. But I think it is how we spend our free time that matters. When free time is used in more active ways, like playing a team sport, then five or more hours a day can keep of even produce happiness. However, spending five or more hours of free time alone can stop happiness.

 根据短文内容,回答下列问题。

Have you ever unlocked a Hello Bike? Have you ever used Meituan to order a meal? Have you ever enjoyed watching the short-form videos on Douyin? Well, if no one had invented the cell phone, none of these would have been possible.

Luckily, someone did invent the cell phone. That person is Martin Cooper, and he did that 51 years ago, in 1973.

Cooper used to work for Motorola. In the 1970s, the company was competing with AT&T, a larger company, to make a cell phone system. Cooper didn't think Motorola's product was good enough. He didn't like AT&T's idea of a car phone, either. The man wanted to give the world something new. He wanted to make it possible for people to talk on their phones anywhere.

It took Cooper and his team 90 days to design (设计) the world's first cell phone. The product was called DynaTAC. People could talk on it for 25 minutes before its battery (电池) died. The phone's short battery life wasn't a big problem, Cooper once joked. Why? Well, the phone was too heavy (1, 100 grams) to hold in hand for too long!

On April 3, 1973, Cooper made the world's first public cell phone call. He called Joel Engel, an AT&T manager. Cooper told Engel, "I'm calling you on a cell phone. It's a real, handheld cell phone." On the other end of the line, there was only silence.

Cell phones have changed a lot since that first call. They're much smaller and can do many more things. Cooper, now 96, is surprised at the progress. But the man has also kept thinking about life in the future. "I must keep learning all my life," he says. "Or I'll lose the ability to learn-that would be terrible!"
