What do you manage to do even when you are very busy? Is it difficult for you to keep this habit? If yes, what can you do?

Not all self-disciplined (自律的) people are great, but nearly all great people are self-disciplined. Some of them read every day. Some of them never run late. The real difference between great people and common people is that great people can manage their time well. That's where their success comes from. What people call self-disciplined is in fact self-management.

One example is staying fit. Never underestimate (低估) someone who is in good shape. Anyone who has ever tried to lose weight knows that it's not easy. It's even harder to avoid putting weight back on. If someone is in good shape, it shows that he knows the principles of staying fit and is able to stick to a plan that uses these principles.

An elite person is often good at managing themselves and their time. Whether it is natural or learnt, it is a great skill.

It also shows that this person is able to keep persevering(坚持不懈的) and can balance long-term goals with short-term goals.

So if someone is in good shape, he or she is more than just healthy. How do you learn self-management? First of all, set a goal and write down your reasons for wanting to achieve it. Create a list of all the things you need to do to achieve this goal and start to work on one of them at a time.

With self-discipline, small things in life will no longer trouble you. Through self-discipline you may truly own your future.

Have you ever done something that made you embarrassed (尴尬的)? No one likes this feeling, but learning to deal with embarrassment can make you feel more confident.

What is embarrassment?

Embarrassment might make you laugh, cry and want to hide under your bed forever. Falling over in a shop or accidentally calling your teacher"Mom" might feel like the end of the world. But everyone gets embarrassed sometimes. We all react (反应) differently, and what feels embarrassed and uncomfortable to one person might be easily laughed off by another. Childline, a charity that supports young people, says,"Whatever you're feeling embarrassed about, remember that it's natural to feel this way."

Why do we feel embarrassed?

Scientists believe embarrassment is a way of teaching us not to repeat mistakes. You're more likely to feel embarrassed when you worry too much about what other people think of you. Even if you think everyone saw you with strawberry jam on your face, studies show that fewer people notice than you think.

How do we deal with embarrassment?

If something isn't very serious, try making a joke out of it."Laughter can show people (and yourself) that it isn't something to worry about," Childline says. If you are feeling embarrassed, other people may not have even noticed, so try acting like it's no big deal or take no notice of what happened. Sometimes we're embarrassed about the way we've behaved towards others. In that case, try saying how sorry you are and that you regret what happened."Telling someone can be the first step to move on," says Childline.

 请阅读短文,从每小题所给的四个选项中选出能回答所提问题或完成所给句子的最佳答案。

It's said that about 4% of people sleepwalk(梦游) at night during their lives. That is, you or some of your families and friends have done so. Sleepwalking happens while one is sleeping. Sleepwalkers walk slowly around the house, say something and then go back to sleep. Their eyes are usually open and look right at you as if they were awake. The next day, they remember nothing when they are asked about what happened the night before.

Sleepwalking is a common problem for many children from 4 to 12 years old. It could run in family. If one of the parents is a sleepwalker, their children may be, too. Scientists still don't know why people sleepwalk, but they find common facts that may lead to sleepwalking. For example, if one is under stress, gets sick or doesn't have enough sleep, he or she will have more chances to sleepwalk. Sleepwalking itself isn't bad, but it may make sleepwalkers get hurt because they are in fact"sleeping" and don't know what they are doing. It is important to keep sleepwalkers from falling down, running into something and even walking out to drive.

What can we do for sleepwalkers? First, try not to wake up a sleepwalker because it may make him or her scared. All you have to do is to show the sleepwalker the way back to bed. Second, close the windows and doors to stop sleepwalkers from going out. Third, keep any things that may hurt the sleepwalkers away. Remember, if you find someone sleepwalking, the most important thing is to make sure he or she is safe.

 阅读下面短文, 从每题所给的 A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。

①A lot of students like playing sports every day, but if sports aren't going to be your future, why should you play them? Why would you train every day even though you feel very tired? Wouldn't it be better to forget sports and only pay attention to your lessons?

②In fact, there are lots of reasons to play sports. First of all, sports are a great way to exercise. Exercising keeps you healthy and strong. It also helps you stay in a good condition. When you take exercise, your body makes endorphins(内啡肽) which give you more energy and let you feel happier.

③Sports are important for everyone, and they are especially important for young people. They teach young people about winning and losing. Also, they teach young people how to communicate and work as a team. They teach young people to respect their coaches, teammates and players from the other team. Many reports say that sports help young people stay out of trouble. If a young person plays sports, he or she may have fewer problems. This is because sports teach people about rules. They also teach people that if they work hard, they might succeed.

④Another advantage of sports is that they make people leave their houses. These days, a lot of people spend too much time watching television and playing video games. When you play sports, you go outside and exercise in the sun. You take in fresh air. All of these things are important.

⑤Maybe you' re not going to become a sports professional(专家), but that doesn't matter. Sports will help you become a better and happier person.
