Everything starts as a dream, a thought or an image in your mind, but this is just the first step to success. You should take action. If you stay there, you will enjoy your dream. One day you will see that you are standing still, like a person watching a beautiful and inspiring movie over and over again, but not going out to the real world to create and live what he or she has seen in the movie.

Are you waiting for some miracles (奇迹)to change your life? Sometimes, miracles do happen, but why not make the miracles happen? By taking part in its creation by planning, watching, expecting, and acting, you can help the miracles happen.

For most people, it looks like a difficult step, because they don't know where to start and what to do. Don't be afraid of the "action" part. You can take action that takes you closer to your goals, even if you don't have enough money, time, or the proper abilities.

The people who succeed are always those who would take action. They think, plan, read, and look around them to see open doors, then take action. This has to do with every area of life, including relationships, work, material success, self-improvement and spiritual growth.

Sometimes, you might find yourself pushed into an open door, toward success. But under most occasions (情况), you will see the door and notice it, but you need the "action part" of opening it, passing through it, and doing things to make the goal come true.

Don't wait for the opportunity to come. Create the opportunity. Believe that it is already here, and improve yourself for it, so that when it appears, you can hold it, and make the most of it.

In the eyes of many foreigners, Chinese are the best hosts and the worst guests in the world. They're not really bad guests but because the guest-host relationship in China is much different than in some Western countries it appears they are not nice guests. And Western guests sometimes look rude in the eyes of Chinese guests.

In China guests are almost like gods. Whenever I enter a Chinese person's home there is always fruit on the table for me and someone is quick to bring me a cup of tea or water. In the West generally the guest is not a god. Acting according to the host's way of doing things is usual behaviour for a guest.

My wife's mother is a very kind elderly Chinese lady who doesn't smoke. When I see some of her guests smoking in her house, as a non-smoker I feel unhappy. Usually I want to stop them directly but I must realize that she must not do that. In most North America homes if you are a guest and the hosts are not smokers, you should not smoke in their house. At the very least you could ask "Is it OK if I smoke?" But don't be surprised if they say "No, you can't smoke." In our culture if you smoke in their home you are a bad guest, but if they don't allow you to smoke in their house they are not a rude guest.

Guests in China also have special habits. Some Western people may not adapt to these habits very soon. Thankfully my wife is Chinese so whenever we visit a Chinese family she tells me to buy them a gift. However giving a gift to a host is not always necessary in my country. So if you invite international guests to your home don't be too surprised if they don't bring you a gift.

In China you probably won't need to change the guest-host relationship very much because you will probably only be the host and Chinese are naturally very good hosts. If Western hosts invite you to their house, try not to be too surprised if their style of treating you is not what you have expected.

Reading a good book is a wonderful journey because the reader can live in someone else's world for a while. Reading together with others, known as buddy (同伴) reading, will make this journey even more fantastic. During the journey, the buddies spend time doing a lot of reading activities. This not only adds to the pleasure of reading, but also deepens their understanding of the books.

Although it is all right to have students join in buddy reading with same-aged schoolmates schools usually pair up older students with younger ones. In 2021, Green School started such a program and has achieved a great success.

Both younger and older readers in this school have learned a lot from this two-year, program. For example, when they listened to each other, they learned to be kind and patient. This experience also provided them with a chance to practice lifelong skills such as exercising leadership or communicating with others. A student called Jason said that reading to a younger buddy was really helpful. He became more confident, as he knew he was a role model for someone.

The school also became a closer community. The reading buddies felt more connected as they often met each other. The students were always excited when they saw their buddies pass by in the hallway.

Now summer vacation is coming. It's a great time to get into books. Why not pair up with a friend, choose a book you both like and read it together?

Have you ever imagined being able to communicate with your pets at home and have them understand everything you say? It sounds too good to be true, but scientists have started using AIto help communicate with animals.

Professor Bake told Scientific Magazine that AI allows humans to use technology to watch and understand the sounds and signals animals communicate with so we humans can try to speak back to them. She said trying to communicate in animals' language could be better than teaching them how to use human sign language. AI is already helping us communicate with bats and bees. This could change what we know about these animals and our relationships with them.

Professor Bake explained how Scientist Tovel had used recordings and AI to understand bats. "Bats have their own language. They often argue over food. They have different names,or 'signature calls'," she said,mother bats lower their voice when speaking to their babies. Their voice can never be heard with human ears. But AI makes this possible because a computer can be trained to listen like a bat. "

Actually,AI has so far achieved a lot in this field. For example,the computer not only listens but also watches bees' body movement to understand what they are communicating. Bake said scientists now know how bees say things such as "be quiet" or "stop". Scientist Landlof even created a robot Honeybee that entered a bee's home and was able to communicate with other bees when it wanted them to stop doing something or fly.
