Life in space is much different from life on the earth. How do astronauts live in space?

Eating

In the past, astronauts {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (eat)only small pieces of dried food. But now astronauts are able to have more everyday food like fruit, vegetables and ice cream.

Sleeping

All the people in the ISS(国际空间站) have {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (they) own rooms. They have to tie (绑) themselves to their beds, or they'll fly away! That seems like {#blank#}3{#/blank#} strange way to sleep. But astronauts say it's not so bad 

{#blank#}4{#/blank#} (sleep) in space.

Exercising

This is {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (important) in space than on the earth. Astronauts exercise on bikes and other machines 

{#blank#}6{#/blank#} ab out two hours every day. In this way, they can be healthy when they get back home.

Having Fun

Astronauts can read books, play cards, listen to music or send emails to their friends and families {#blank#}7{#/blank#} they aren't working. Sometimes they just sit and look out of the window {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (quiet). It's also much fun!

Astronauts are hard-working whether in space or on the earth. {#blank#}9{#/blank#}the work sometimes is difficult, they still show interest in it and love the job. Many students think {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (astronaut) lives is very funny and they also want to be astronauts in the future.

Hongze Lake has a long history. It is{#blank#}1{#/blank#} the west of Jiangsu Province. It is {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(large) than many other freshwater lakes in China. 

Hongze Lake was a small group of shallow(浅的) lakes in the past, and known as FulingLake. In the Tang Dynasty, it got {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (it) name Hongze Lake. As time went by, the small lakes {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(final) turned intoHongze Lake. 

There are many{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (kind) of fishes in Hongze Lake. Hongze Lake is also famous {#blank#}6{#/blank#} the plants here and there. Reeds(芦苇) almost cover the whole lake. And the large-area reeds may even stop boats from {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(get) through. 

Near Hongze Lake, there is a nature reserve. It is Hongze Lake Wetland NationalNature Reserve. It was first built on July1, 1985. The reserve has 8{#blank#}8{#/blank#}area of49, 365 hectares(公顷). It is home to many birds. There are swans, cranes and other national first-class and second-class rare and protected birds here. It gives these birds a comfortable place {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (live). Every year, a lot of {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(tour) come here to watch these birds and many wildlife lovers come to take photos. 

Pinyin is a modern {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. It was invented in 1958 to help illiterate(不识字的) Chinese to learn how to read. It worked out quite well. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} people learned to read quickly with the help of pinyin.

 Pinyin has been used in other ways, too. It helps to develop the use of Standard Chinese, or Mandarin(普通话), so that people who speak different dialects(方言) can understand each other. It also makes it . much {#blank#}3{#/blank#} to type Chinese characters on computers and cellphones.

 Pinyin is also finding its place in other languages. The Oxford English Dictionary now{#blank#}4{#/blank#} more than 100 pinyin expression, such as jiaozi for" dumpings" and zhongguomeng for" Chinese dream".

 Foreign media sometimes use pinyin in reporting about China.

 Now, pinyin is not only a language {#blank#}5{#/blank#}, but also a cultural bridge that connects China to the world.

In old times, people didn't have smartphones or computers to use for fun. Still they had interesting games to play. Let's take a look.

Kites

Kites have quite a long history. In the old story, Mo Di made the first kite. People first used kites to send messages. In the Song Dynasty, kites got very popular with people. Now, Beijing, Tianjin, Nantong and Weifang are the four most important places of kite making.

Cuju

This is old Chinese soccer. The name" Cuju" first came out in the book Records of the Historian by Sima Qian. At first, soldiers played the game as training. In the Song Dynasty the game was all the rage at the time. People across the country loved playing it. Women also played the game.

 Chuiwan

Chuiwan is a ball game. It is a bit like golf(高尔夫). The game got popular in the Song Dynasty, It was still popular in the Yuan Dynasty and Ming Dynasty. Someone in the Yuan Dynasty even wrote a book called Wan Jing for the game. However, the game got less popular in the Qing Dynasty.

Go

Go, or Weiqi, is a game for two players. It has a history of more than 4,000 years. In the old story, Yao made the game to teach his son. People in old times thought it was a game for gentlemen(绅士).

Do you know farm animals? Let's get to know some of them together. 

People keep pigs on farms for meat. Pigs like to stay in mud (泥浆) because it helps them to keep cool. Pigs live in the mud but they are very clean animals. Mother pigs can sing to their babies. 

People keep sheep on farms for their meat and milk. Sheep are happy when they live together in a group. Sheep are very gentle animals so people like to keep them. 

Cows give us the milk that we buy from the shops. People use milk to make ice cream and other kinds of food, Cows like to eat grass. Cows can drink a lot of water in one day. 

People can make horses work on farms.  ▲  You can see people ride them in the shows or at the races. 

People keep chickens on farms for their eggs and meat. A female chicken is called a hen and a male chicken is called a rooster. Roosters can ask the farmers to get up every morning by saying "cock-a-doo-die-doo. 

Many players at the Olympics represent(代表) their countries. However, some players cannot do this because they are refugees. Refugees are people who had to leave their home countries because of war, problems, or being treated badly. There are more refugees now than before.

 To help these players, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) made a special team for refugees. This team started in 2016 to let refugees take part in the Olympics. They don't represent any country, but they can still win medals.

 The refugee team first played in the 2016 Olympics in Rio. They also took part in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2024 Paris Olympics.

 This year, the team had 37 players from 11 countries. They showed that more than 100 million people around the world who had to leave their homes could still do great things. In Paris, they played in 12 different sports like swimming, running, badminton, boxing, and more.

 The IOC President said that even though these players didn't have a flag or a national anthem(国歌), they were welcomed at the Olympics with the Olympic flag and song. They showed that people could be strong and do well even in difficult situations. This gave hope to many people who had to leave their homes.
