She is a beautiful red-haired girl. she has been shopping with her mom in Wal-Mart. It was raining hard outside. We all stood there under the awning (雨篷). Her voice was so sweet. “Mom, let's run through the rain,” she said.
“What?” Mom asked.
“Let's run through the rain!”
“No, honey. We'll wait until it slows down a bit,” Mom replied.
The child waited about another minute and repeated, “Mom, let's run through the rain.”
“We'll get wet if we do,” Mom said.
“No, we won't, Mom. That's not what you said this morning,” the young girl said as she pulled her mom's arm.
“This morning? When did I say we could run through the rain and not get wet?”
“Don't you remember? When you were talking to Daddy about his cancer(癌症), you said, we can get through anything!”
The crowd(人群) became silent. Nothing could be heard but the rain. No one came or left in the next few minutes. Mom thought for a moment about what she would say.
“Honey, you are right. Let's run through the rain. If we get wet, maybe we'll just need to get a wash,” Mom said.
Then off they ran. People all stood watching, smiling and laughing as they rushed past the cars and through the puddles(水坑).
They held their shopping bags over their heads. They got wet through. But they were followed by a few who laughed like children all the way to their cars.
People can take away your money and health. But no one can ever take away your memories….So don't forget to make time to make memories every day.

We were on a visit to Monkey Island. Jim thought we should try water skiing(滑水).

We can get a boat and ski at Monkey Island.

Don't go water skiing near Monkey Island today,” said the woman standing near the boats. “There might be sharks(鲨鱼) in the water.”

“I don't think so.” said Jim who thought he knew everything.

“I wouldn't go water skiing in the sea near Monkey Island today,” said the man with the woman. “They saw sharks in the water yesterday.”

“The sharks won't hurt me,” said Jim with a big smile on his face.

Another man getting out of a boat said, “I'm sure we just saw a shark in the water a few minutes ago.”

“Don't worry about me,” said Jim. “I don't worry about sharks.”

Jim and his two friends, Bill and Bruce pushed the boat into the water. Jim was driving the boat. He drove very fast and sprayed water on everyone standing near the boat.

Jim drove the boat to the middle of the sea near Monkey Island. Everyone could see him and the boat. He wanted to show everyone how well he could water ski.

“You drive the boat, Bill,” Jim said. “Bruce, you watch me and the rope while I water ski.”

“What about the sharks?” asked Bill.

“Forget about the sharks,” said Jim. “I'm not afraid of sharks.”

Jim got into the water. He was putting his feet in the water skis. Then Jim felt something large and hard touch his leg as it swam past him. Suddenly, a brown fin(鳍) moved through the water towards Jim.

Later, when Bill and Bruce stopped laughing, they said, “We never saw anyone move so fast! You were running on top of the water to get back in the boat! You even left the water skis in the water.

“There it is again! Shark! Shark!” cried Jim.

Everyone laughed—even the people standing on shore.

The dolphin(海豚) came to surface again, took a deep breath, smiled at Jim and went back down into the deep water.

Andrew Holleman, a 12-year-old boy, loved playing in the open land near his home. The land was wet and forested, and made a home for birds, other animals and many different plants.

It made the perfect place for him to study and get to know nature. He had seen some red-tail hawks, red foxes, wood turtles and other animals. He also found special native flowers.

Suddenly it was reported that the "empty" land would be improved by a lot of houses on it. The plants would be removed, the animals would run away and most would probably die. Then the wet soil would be covered with extra grounds.

When he heard about the news, he was not happy. He was very worried that the land and water would be polluted. Andrew wrote down clearly all the research he had done about the area, and how the houses would affect(影响)the local environment. He sent letters to members of local government and television reporters. He also called on his neighbors to oppose the building of the houses.

Although he was only 12 years old, he had the courage and wisdom of a person much older.

Andrew's teachers described him as a gentle, shy and active. His classmates also admired how much he knew about local animals and plants, and the environment. Each day after school, Andrew went door-to-door, to ask the people to sign(签字), who did not want the houses to be built. In only one month, he got the signatures of 250 people.

In the end, the land remained a safe place for birds, animals and plants that belonged there.

Andrew won many prizes for his brave and great work to stop the houses being built, and he helped save the environment.

"With one more world championship, I can apply for the Guinness World Records (吉尼斯世界纪录), "said Chen Yongning, a 93-year old ping pong lover in Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, Red Star News reported on April 2nd, 2019. With 80 years of experience and a racket that he bought from a stationery shop for 15 yuan, Chen won World Veteran Championships in 2016 and 2018.

"I'm not tired. I play with my hands and arms, and my feet don't move," said Chen after playing ping pong for 40 minutes with a younger player Ye. "Chen is physically strong. He can usually play several games with us," said Ye, explaining that Chen is energetic, though he is troubled by backache.

Chen started to play ping pong when he was 13 years old. While he was playing with friends in his school playground, the headmaster saw Chen very carefully follow the rules of a game he was playing, while the other children tried to play tricks on each other. The headmaster called him over, gave him a ball and rackets, and asked Chen to play with him. Chen didn't know how to play ping pong at that time, so he just followed the headmaster's lead. Ever since that moment, Chen said, he had fallen in love with it.

As he grew up, Chen worked in Shanxi Agricultural College (now Shanxi Agricultural University), where there were excellent ping pong facilities. He sharpened his skills and took part in various competitions in his spare time, winning a number of local medals.

Chen has a son and a daughter. Both of them love their father and are successful in their own fields. One of them will go with Chen to the 20th World Veteran Championships which will be held in France next year.

Chen has already decided he won't stop playing ping pong unless he is 100 years old.
