It seems school children all over the world complain about their school food.Cherie Blair, the wife of Prime Minister Tony Blair, said that she would prepare a packed lunch for her son if school dinners do not improve. So what do students of your age eat for lunch at school?
Japan
High schools have canteens, which serve everything from noodles to rice, but not burgers and chips.Other children bring food from home such as cold rice balls, meat or fish, pickles and vegetables.
The United States
A typical menu from a US school is made up of a hamburger with fried potatoes or roast chicken, lettuce and pickles, fruit and cookies.School lunches must also provide at least one-third of the daily dietary
allowances(定量)of protein(蛋白质),vitamin A.vitamin C,iron,calcium,and calories(卡路里).
Australia
Meat pies, sausage rolls and hotdogs are all traditional dishes in Australian school shops. But as the nation pays more attention to children's health, healthier foods have started to find their way onto school menus.
Many schools have used a traffic light system. The sale of red-labelled foods including pastries, chocolate and soft drinks,is served only twice a week.Healthier green-labelled foods such as sushi, sandwiches, corn and watermelon, however are served every day.
In some schools.students have a choice of up to 89 foods to choose from, including popcorn and rice.
South Africa
Most of South Africa's schools do not serve meals at all.Classes end at 1:30 pm and students get their own lunches. Many students bring food from home, usually sandwiches.
Fast food and fried food sell the best among students, which has led to a rise in obesity among children. But as more people began to realize the fact that being too fat may cause different diseases, some schools in towns have led the way towards better nutrition(营养).Now students at these schools are provided with lunches of porridge with vegetables, such as cabbages, onions, beans, carrots and tomatoes.

National Smile Month is the largest and longest-running oral (口腔的) health campaign (运动) in the UK. National Smile Month will be sharing positive messages and encouraging others to develop and have a healthy mouth between May 13 and June 13, 2024.

The British are known for their bad teeth because they have too many sweet foods and drinks. It seems that most of them don't often show their feelings. They neither smile nor cry. But this is not true. The British like to smile as much as anyone else. They just don't want to show their bad teeth.

There are three key messages in helping people develop and have a healthy mouth. They are:

■ Brush your teeth at night and at least once a day.

■ Cut down on how much sweet food and drink you have, and how often you have them.

■ Visit your dentist regularly, as often as they ask you to do.

With the help of these three messages, people can realize the importance of good teeth and be confident enough to open their mouths to smile. National Smile Month isn't just about education and stressing the importance of a healthy mouth. The key to the success of the campaign is that we have lots of fun doing it!

A smile might be a small body language, yet it can make a great difference to our state of mind. You can support National Smile Month in so many ways. Hold events to raise awareness (意识) of oral health, or simply post something on social media. By taking part in National Smile Month, you can help to create a healthier and happier world.

Could you imagine being in a car driven by a computer, not a human? Recently, China has made a big step toward self- driving technology. Since August, driverless taxis can run on roads in Wuhan, Chongqing and Shenzhen.

Why do we develop self- driving cars? Self- driving cars have many advantages. They use computers with many cameras which can sense all the objects close to the car and give the computers another route (路线) . Then the car can take people to the place where they want to go. For disabled or blind people, self- driving cars can also help them get around more easily.

According to US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, each year, more than 1. 35 million people are killed on roads around the world. It's reported that self- driving cars could reduce road accidents by 90 percent. The main cause of car accidents is human error (错误) . By using computers, self- driving cars don't make poor decisions or lose attention like humans do.

But self- driving cars aren't perfect. If something unexpected on the road happens, self- driving cars can't react as fast as a human driver can. Also, during weather events like heavy snow, self- driving cars wouldn't see the lines on the road easily. It might lead to an accident. The car's computer system would be broken by someone, causing it to crash or change its direction.

It's clear that there is a lot of work to do to make self- driving cars a common and safe sight on our roads. And China is taking the lead in making this happen.

 阅读下列短文,从下面每小题所给的A、B、CD四个选项中,选出最佳选项。

Theo works days, nights, and weekends in the tulip, fields in the Netherlands and never feels tired. How is this possible? Theo is an AI robot that looks fo sick flowers each spring.

The work stops viruses(病毒)from spreading among the plants. The robot looks for troubled tulip bulbs(鳞茎) and kills them if necessary. They are removed (去除) from the healthy ones,in a processing center after the harvest.

There are 45 robots like Theo working in the tulip fields of the Netherlands. Their job becomes important as the winter turns to spring and the busiest season nears. People come from around the world to see the colorful flowers.

This is the second season that Allan Visser has used a robot. He said it is very costly-the same as sports car-about $200, 000. In the past, knowledgeable farmers would walk the fields looking for tulips that showed signs of sickness. "I prefer to have the robot because a sports car doesn't take out thesick tulips from our field, " he said "Yeah, it is expensive, but there are fewer and fewer people who can really see the sick tulips.

Erik de Jong, the manager of the company that makes the robots, said all of the knowledge they use in the computer program comes from tulip farmers—farmers like Theo van der Vourt. He is the farmer after whom the robot is named.

Van der Vourt retired(退休)after 52 years of looking for sick flowers in his fields. "It's fantastic"he said, "It sees just as much as I see. "
