Talking about the life of the old people，many {#blank#}1{#/blank#}（people）first thought might be "Square Dance".However，in Fuzhou，learning English is an 80-year-old grandpa's everyday work.

Grandpa Lin is studying two English courses in a university.At one head of his bed，it's{#blank#}2{#/blank#}（total）full of English books.He even thinks that listening to an MP3 player with English conversations is the best medicine {#blank#}3{#/blank#}his insomnia（失眠症）.Whoever visits him，he always expects to talk with the person in English.His story of {#blank#}4{#/blank#}（learn）English dates back to over ten years ago.

One day in 2009，Grandpa Lin went to Tianjin to see his daughter.On the train，he met a young {#blank#}5{#/blank#}（Britain）couple.With sign language and some easy {#blank#}6{#/blank#}（express），he communicated with the couple for a long time.Finally the two sides also left e—mail addresses to each other.

Soon after he returned home，Grandpa Lin received a special letter from the couple.The letter {#blank#}7{#/blank#}（write） both in English and Chinese.The couple {#blank#}8{#/blank#}（encourage）him to learn English well.From then on，Grandpa Lin continued working hard at English and he made a decision to hold on to his dream.

Grandpa Lin often tries to talk with his friends in English on WeChat. {#blank#}9{#/blank#}he's old，he's positive and seems never to be out.We hope more old people can {#blank#}10{#/blank#}（be）like Grandpa Lin.Never be too old to learn.

Garry Golden is sharing his ideas with some university students.

Golden is a futurist(未来主义者) . Futurists are scientists who study(研究) the world today and use that information to make predictions about the 

future.Some futurists study the environment.Some study human society(人类社会), Golden studies transportation(交通运输).

Golden says there will be fewer cars in cities in the future.

Golden says. "We have to build lots of parking lots (停车场) for cars, but having so many parking lots is not efficient . Much of the time the 

parking lots are empty (空的). Golden says cities will make new laws(法律)to limit(限制) the number of cars in the future.

"Buses have the same problem as parking lots,"Golden says. "Sometimes they are full, and sometimes they are empty." Golden says in the future 

people can use phones to send messages(信息) when they want to take the bus. And buses can change (改变) their ways to pick(接) them up.

"Traffic is a big problem for cities today," Golden says."But there are so many things we can do to improve it. I believe that in thirty years we will live in a very different world."

This story is about a young man. He worked hard at his lessons. He was too busy. He didn't have time to rest, so he was ill. Every night, when he went to bed, he closed his eyes and tried to sleep. But he couldn't. He thought, "I must go to see the doctor." He said to the doctor, "I can't go to sleep at night." "Try counting numbers. When you reach one thousand, you'll be asleep."

The next day the man came back to the doctor's office. "Well," said the doctor, "how are you today?" 

"Yes," he said. "I tried counting one, two, three … up to （直到)one thousand. But when I reached five hundred and sixty-nine, I began to feel sleepy. I had to get up and drank some tea. Then I went on counting up to one thousand. But I still couldn't fall asleep." 

We made a survey (调查) on 300 young people about what they like to do on weekends. One hundred people are from the ages of 11～18，one hundred 19～26 and one hundred 27～35. The following chart (图表) shows their answers：
