   Japanese people work very hard at studying English. They start studying English at the age of 12. Most young Japanese people spend a lot of time and work hard at studying English, but Japanese people are not good at English. Here are the reasons:
   There are few people from English-speaking countries in Japan. They don't have enough chances to speak with them. Japan is an island(岛)country and they feel that other countries are far away. So they don't use English very often. And the Japanese feel that it is strange(奇怪的) to talk to each other in English.
   The Japanese education doesn't always follow the educational trends(趋势) in the world. It puts a lot of importance on grammar and vocabulary, and less on speaking, listening and reading skills.
   Many Japanese students' English becomes worse(更糟糕的) after they go to university(大学).They have to learn English again if they work in English-speaking countries. Sometimes the Japanese feel shy about speaking wrong or broken English.

On September 11th, 2001, many police officers and government officials in America worked day and night to save lives from the big fire at the World Trade Centre. And in Japan, after the serious earthquake, a group of workers showed their courage.
The earthquake on March 11th made Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant(福岛核电站) turn off and stop its protective cooling systems. And later, a fire broke out. Workers were told that the plant's radiation(辐射) could be harmful to human health. Hundreds of workers left the plant quickly. However, a group of workers decided to fight against the fire and the damage, though they knew it could cause very serious health problems. There were 50 workers in all, so they were also named the "Fukushima 50". The workers worked in shifts(轮班).
People knew little about the workers, who were mainly experts (专家) with the skills to control the situation. One woman said that her father had volunteered to stay there. "I heard that he volunteered even though he would retire(退休) in just half a year and my eyes were filled with tears. I am really proud of him. And I pray for his safe return.

In its original run, Hanna and Barbera produced 114 Tom and Jerry stories for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer from 1940 to 1958. The first film based on the cartoon, Tom and Jerry: The Movie, was put on in 1992, and 12 direct-to-video films have been produced since 2002.
