Walt Disney began to make cartoon films when he was a young man. But he didn't have much money then. One day a mouse ran near his desk while he was working in his small office.

    "Would you like to be my pet?" Disney decided to make a cartoon about it.

    "I am making a cartoon about a mouse named Mortimer," he told his wife.

    "Mortimer Mouse? I think Mickey Mouse would be a better name," she said.

    "You are right," Disney agreed and made many Mickey Mouse cartoons.

    People all over the world saw Mickey and loved it. Mickey Mouse made Disney famous. Then came Donald Duck, and Goofy Dog and others. Disney began to make long cartoons. Then he made cartoon films for television.

    In 1955, Disney opened a wonderful amusement park in California. Real boats, castles, trains, mountains, rivers, all are in one beautiful park. Millions of people came to Disneyland.

    He died in 1966, but the world will not forget him. Mickey Mouse and all his cartoons will help us to remember him.

Li Hua and Wang Tao are two students of Class 4, Grade 7. They both like sports. Li Hua is a basketball fan. His favorite sport is playing basketball. Yao Ming is his favorite basketball player. He wants to be a basketball player like Yao Ming when he grows up. Li Hua is on the school basketball team now. Every Friday afternoon, Li Hua plays basketball with his classmates after class.

Li Hua's friend Wang Tao isn't good at basketball, but he is very good at soccer. Ronaldo is his favorite soccer player. Wang Tao is on the soccer team. He plays soccer with his teammates (队友) every Tuesday afternoon.

Mum and I wanted to do something exciting during the summer vacation, so she 1  that we take the train to Grandma's house. Grandma lived far from our 2 , so we would spend one day and one night on the 3  just getting there.

On the day of our trip, Mum and I went to the train station. The train 4  and we got on. It seemed 5  and cool inside, compared to the bright, warm day outside. The conductor(检票员) took our 6  and showed us to the car(车厢) which we would ride in. Soon the train pulled away from the station. Outside the windows, the town buildings 7  gave way to the countryside. From time to time, children who lived near the tracks(轨道) would run out to wave 8  we passed.

At lunchtime, Mum and I had our meals in the dining car. There were different kinds of foods. It was9  being in a restaurant on wheels(轮子)! At bedtime, we went to our sleeping compartment. There were four beds in the compartment. My bed was above my mum's. I had to 10  into bed. The moving of the train made it  11  for me to sleep. I fell asleep soon.

When 12 came, we were near the countryside where Grandma lived. Mum and I quickly dressed and 13  our things. As the train slowed to a stop, we saw Grandma waving at 14  . Spending the week with Grandma would be wonderful, 15  I was already looking forward to the train ride back home.

A young man went for a job interview in a big company. The boss found that the young man's college grades were excellent. Then he asked the young man who paid for his education. The young man told the boss that his parents did and they worked as laundry (洗衣店) workers. 

The boss noticed that the young man's hands were smooth and perfect. He asked, "Have you ever helped your parents wash clothes?" "No. My parents always make me study. Besides, they wash clothes faster than I do."

The boss asked the young man to go back home and wash his parents' hands. When he got home, he told his parents that he wanted to wash their hands. His parents felt surprised but happy. Then the young man began to wash their hands slowly. 

He was in tears. He found his parents' hands were so rough (粗糙的) and pale because of washing a lot of clothes in the cold water. There were also many injuries (伤口) in their hands. After washing their parents' hands, the young man quietly washed the rest of the clothes. 

The next morning, the young man went to the company again. The boss noticed the young man's pale hands. He said to the young man, "Welcome to join us!"

During the Three Kingdoms period, Liu Shan was the king of Shu. However, he knew nothing about ruling a state (诸侯国). {#blank#}1{#/blank#} One day, the army of Wei attacked Shu. Liu and some of his soldiers were captured and brought to Wei.

Sima Zhao was a very powerful leader in Wei. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} So, he invited Liu and his officials to a dinner. He prepared delicious food and drink to treat them. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} He wanted to make fun of Liu and his men.

When Liu's officials heard the music and saw the dances, they felt very sad. Only Liu enjoyed the show and laughed happily.

I used to hate running. At secondary school I found it very tired to run around the sports field and I was always one of the 1 students to cross the finish line. Then, in 2020, my friend asked me to run with him. My 2 was, "No way! I hate running".

During the weekend I thought about his question. "Why do I hate running?" I thought, In the end I decided to 3 it. I told my friend I would like to run with him. He was 4 to hear that. He advised me to look for a running program on the Internet to 5 me learn how to run. There were lots of running programs on the Internet. I 6 a 14-week running program. I would attend a match when I finished the program. I had to run three times a week. At first, I ran for short periods of 7 and had long breaks. Then 8 the weeks went on, I had to run for longer periods of time and the breaks got 9 . I enjoyed following the running program each week. Now I can run for 10 than 30 minutes each time! I went from 11 running to loving running.

On the day of the 12 I was both excited and nervous. 13 was finally time to put my new skills into practice. My friends and family came to support me. It was lovely to have them there. With their support and my training, I managed to finish the 10000-metre run in 72 minutes. I was very 14 of that.

From this experience I 15 it was a good idea to try something before saying I hated it! Because it turned out that I really enjoyed running.
