    In 1983, Sally Ride became the first American women in space. Her team carried out scientific experiments in space and put two communications satellites in space. Satellites make it possible for us to communicate immediately with each other across the world through TV, radio and telephone.

    Who are (A)_ at science in your class, girls or boys? Nowadays, girls start to show more interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) subjects, according to a recent study by Cambridge Occupational Analysts (COA), UK.

The number of girls considering university courses in STEM subjects has been larger than that of boys.     Service on the 102-km high-speed railway between Shenzhen and Guangzhou started on December 26, 2011. A non-stop trip between the Guangzhou South Station and the Shenzhen North Station takes 35 minutes at full speed.

    The high-speed service between Guangzhou and Shenzhen will be a convenient choice for many people. “I won't need to travel to the Guangzhou East Station to take a train to Shenzhen,” said Wang Yi, who lives in Panyu district in Guangzhou.

    Many people still prefer the slower trains, because the terminals (终点站) of the high-speed trains are far away from the centres of both cities. “I would not like to take a high-speed train to Shenzhen. I live in the centre of Guangzhou. First I have to get to the Guangzhou South Station. It is a waste of time for me,” said Zhang Lu.

    My name is Bob. I am 16 years old now. I've felt lonely since I was 9. I didn't like my classmates, my parents or anyone else. My classmates didn't want to talk with me and my parents were always saying that other kids were better than me. One day I had a big fight with one of my classmates.
