牛津上海(本地版)五四制七年级上册Module 3 Unit 10 A birthday party单元测试卷(含小段音频)

Answer the questions.

A friend of mine was fond of drawing horses. He drew the horses very well, but he always began at the tail. Now it is the western rule to begin at the head of the horse. That is why I was surprised. It struck me that it could not really make any difference whether the artist begins at the head or the tail or the belly(肚子) or the foot of the horse, if he really knows his business. And most great artists who really know their business do not follow other people's rules. They make their own rules. Every one of them does his work in a way peculiar( 奇特的) to himself; and the peculiarity means that only he finds it more easy to work in that way.

Now the very same thing is true to literature(文学). And the question," How shall I begin?" only means that you want to begin at the head instead of beginning at the tail or somewhere else. That is, you are not yet experienced(有经验的) enough to trust to your own powers. When you become more experienced you will never ask the question, and I think that you will often begin at the tail- that is to say, you will write the end of the story before you have even thought of the beginning.

(1)、How did the friend of the writer draw the horse?
(2)、How many ways can an artist draw a horse according to the writer?
(3)、Why was the writer surprised?
(4)、When will you feel you are not experienced?
(5)、What will you do when you become more experienced?
(6)、What is the article mainly about?

{#blank#}1{#/blank#} I don't think I can talk fluently because it's difficult for me to remember all the words.
{#blank#}2{#/blank#} When I come face to face with the audience, where should my eyes fall upon? Do I have to look front, or look around from time to time?
{#blank#}3{#/blank#} When I am talking, I can't help waving my hands, for I think it can help me express what I want to say better. But my classmates say I look funny and foolish by doing this .
{#blank#}4{#/blank#} I know that it's not right to speak fast. But I am afraid that I can't finish my talk in the given time if I speak slowly.
{#blank#}5{#/blank#} Should I talk in American English or British English?
A.Look at the audience (观众) .
Looking at and talking to one person in the audience helps keep you natural, but it feels foolish talking to only one person. Speak to that person as long as 15 seconds and then change another one.
B.Don't speak too fast!
The audience have a hard time understanding what they hear. They need your help. Slow down, pause(停顿) and guide the audience through your talk. Remember that you should help the audience understand what you are saying.
C.Low your voice!
Make your voice a little lower than normal. Listeners like to a relatively(相对) deep voice.
D.Talk but not recite(背诵) .
When you talk, try to be as natural as possible. Don't try to memorize your words and read or recite them to your audience. You can use short notes to help you remember the important points.
E. Use simple words.
You should know you and most of the people you talk to are different in many ways . Some of them may not know what you are talking about. Then speak to them on their languages.
F. Word works!
Concentrate on what you want to say. If you are always paying attention to gestures(手势).
G. English has no differences.
It's true that there are some differences between American English and British English, but they'll not cause much difficulty for listeners, so just speak the way you're used to.

I once believed that a friend is a friend all the way. Now I have changed my ideas about friendships.

1). Friends of convenience(便利). They can be the people who live next door or the mothers of our children's closest friends. Friends of convenience are good indeed. They'll help us when we need it. They'll look after our cats when we go on holidays. But we don't ever get too close or tell too much. Between us, we'll talk about being overweight but not about being sad or disappointed(失望). However, people still find it necessary to make friends like this.

2). Special-interest friends. These friendships aren't deeply personal or emotional(感情上的). They lie in some shared interests, so we may have an office friend, a tennis friend, or even a shopping friend.

3). Historical friends. We all have a friend who knew us when…maybe we were back in the second grade of primary school, when our family lived in that two-room flat downtown. He or she was the first, the only friend we told our secrets to.

The years have gone by, and we have gone different ways. But we're still a personal part of each other's past. We know how we looked before our teeth were straightened(矫正), and our getting together makes us think of an earlier part of ourselves, which is important and never lost.

4). Cross-generational friends. These are friendships that from across generations(代). I have in my own life a precious(珍贵的) friend, a woman of 65, who is clever, who listens well, and who means not only an ideal mother to me but also the person I'd like to be when I grow up.

Best friends, I believe, totally love and help each other.

Have you ever thrown an old mobile phone? And do you know that there's a mobile phone throwing competition in Finland every year?{#blank#}1{#/blank#}This sport has been around since 2000 though the first national championships took place in Norway in 2004.

While competitors cannot throw their own phones, the competition organizers provide hundreds of mobiles to choose from.{#blank#}3{#/blank#} Last year's winner Ere Karjalainen set a world record with his 101.46m throw.
