Benedict Allen was born in England in 1960．His dad was a pilot(飞行员)，and Benedict dreamed of travelling around the world like his dad.His dream came true—Benedict became an explorer(探险家)．But he doesn't travel the world in a plane.He finds a place he wants to explore，and then he lives with the local people．He learns important skills from them，and then uses those skills to explore the place he's visiting．He doesn't use modem things like mobile phones．and he likes to travel alone．

    Benedict's explorations are often dangerous，but he likes them．One of his favourite explorations was in 2001．He wanted to be the first person to travel alone across the ice from Siberia to Alaska．So he went to Siberia and lived with the Chukchi people．He learned how to live like the Chukchi people and drive a dog team．He travelled 622 miles with only a dog team．The weather was really bad．There was a lot of snow,wind and ice．so the journey was very difficult．Benedict almost lost the dog team，and he almost died，so he ended his journey early．It was scary,but he learned a lot．

    Father's Day is a very new festival in British compared with Mother's Day, which has been a very popular festival in the UK for a long time.

    Father's Day started in America in the world. Once there was a man called William Smith, whose wife died and he had to raise (供养) six children by himself. His daughter thought when she grew up what her father had done for them. So she thought that there should be a Father's Day. Later, the festival was born, falling on the third Sunday every June.

    Britain took the idea of Father's Day from the USA. What do British people do for Father's Day? Well, most people would buy cards for their fathers. The card would have a nice message in it.
