On a boat near Costa Rica, a team of scientists is helping a turtle (海龟). The animal is having trouble breathing, and the team discovers the reason—there is something inside its nose. A scientist tries to take out the object, but the turtle cries in pain. At last, after eight long minutes, a long object is pulled out: It is a plastic straw(塑料吸管).

The video about how the turtle was saved has been watched millions of times on the Internet. It has helped to realize a growing problem: The world's seas are full of plastic. Since 2000, there has been a huge increase in worldwide plastic production, but we recycle (回收利用) less than one-fifth of it.

A lot of plastic waste ends up in the sea. Today, scientists think about

8.1 billion kilos goes into the sea every year. Most of this plastic will never biodegrade(生物降解). This sea plastic hurts millions of sea animals every year. Some fish eat. plastic because it looks and smells like food. "Imagine you ate lunch and then just felt weak... and hungry all day," says Matthew Savoca from Columbia University. In some cases, eating pieces of plastic can even cause sea animals to die.

Plastic is useful to people but this is bad news for sea animals. According to Savoca, "Single-use plastics are the worst." These are things that are used only once before we throw them away. Some common examples include straws, water bottles and plastic bags. About 700 sea species (including the turtle from the video) have eaten this kind of plastic. Luckily, the turtle got saved and backed to the sea.

How will plastic have an influence on sea animals in the long term? "I think we'll know the answers in 5 to 10 years' time," says Savoca. But by then, another 25 million tons of plastic will already be in the sea.

 阅读短文,然后根据内容回答问题。

"May we all be blessed with longevity. Though miles apart, we are still able to share the beauty of the moon together(但愿人长久,千里共婵娟)."wrote Su Shi, a poet during the Song Dynasty, in his well-known poem to his younger brother Su Zhe.

The moon is at its brightest on the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar. On this day, people celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival. It has been enjoying great popularity all over the country.

In ancient China, that day was a harvest(收获) festival because crops(庄稼) were harvested during that period. It was also a time for relaxation and celebration.

Just like Thanksgiving in Western countries, families also try to get together for the Mid-Autumn Festival in China. Usually, no matter how far away or how busy they are, people will try to return home for the celebration.

The Mid-Autumn has its own special food just as other traditional Chinese holidays. People eat mooncakes with fillings such as sugar and eggs. The round shape of the cake makes it look like the full moon. The full moon and mooncakes stand for family reunion(团聚).

With the beautiful moon up in the sky, people sit together, enjoy the full moon, eat mooncakes and fruit, share the stories, and express the best wishes for the family members and friends who live afar.

 阅读下列短文, 从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中选出最佳选项。

My father is lucky. He falls asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow. However, my mother is not so lucky. Sleep usually takes longer to come, counting sheep may be the answer. With their` eyes closed, people picture a line of white sheép. Then, they count as each sheep jump over a· fence.

This method is as old as time. Some people believe it comes from the Islamic culture. While others believe it started with shepherds in old Britain. They couldn't get to sleep at night because they were worried about all of the sheep in the field. So they would calm themselves by counting the sheep up to make sure they were all safe.

A team of scientists at Oxford University sarried out a study on counting sheep. They aimed to see if the method really worked. They put 41 people with sleep problems in three groups. The first group went to sleep in their normal ways. And group two needed to imagine peaceful scenes like waterfalls to help them fall asleep. The last group counted sheep.

The scientists got some interesting results. The people in the second group got to sleep around 20 minutes faster than usual. However, those in the last group took longer than usual to fall asleep. I he scientists believed counting sheep made the people feel nervous. As a result, they had more difficulty falling asleep. So, it looks like counting sheep may not be the answer for people with sleep problems.

When falling asleep, it is likely to be more helpful to make the mind filled with something relaxing rather than active." You have to keep record of those sheep. It takes a lot of work to count them all up." said Michael Decker, Ph. D, you can try taking a bath to help fall asleep. You can also think about a quiet beach or a walk in the woods."^

Remember next time, no more sheep in your bed.

第二节 任务型阅读;阅读下面材料,从方框中所给的 A-E五个选项中选择正确的选项(其中一项是多余选项),将其序号填入小题, 并回答问题。

 The world is getting smaller everyday and knowing multiple( 多 样 的) languages is more important than ever. Of course, it is not easy to learn a new language, {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. Here are some ideas.

● {#blank#}2{#/blank#}

 Research shows that this is one of the best ways to learn foreign language vocabulary. If the books written for native speakers are too difficult for you, try starting with children's books, comic books or graded readers( stories adapted for language learners) for fun.

● Listen to music

 It is a good idea to download some songs in a foreign language to practice your listening skills and train your memory. To make the most of it, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}; after you' ve heard the song a few times, dive into the lyrics and look up the meaning, then keep listening until you understand the lyrics completely.

● Watch a film

A rainy afternoon in front of a foreign language Disney movie is a lovely way to improve your listening skills. Choose one where you already know the story, {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. You can also learn more about the local culture by watching movies from the area.

● Keep a diary

 You can start by writing a simple paragraph or two about your day. Not only will it improve your writing, but it' ll also help you learn how to talk about yourself and your life, which is great practice for conversations.

A try to listen actively

B. Learn to share stories

C so it's easier to follow along

D. Read for pleasure

E. but it can be fun

Among these great ways, which do you think is the best one? Why? (20词左右) {#blank#}5{#/blank#}
