ChatGPT, a smart AI chatbot (聊天机器人) tool, has swept the education world in the past months. According to a US survey of more than 1,000 students, over 89 percent of them have used ChatGPT to help with their homework.

Some schools in the US, Australia and France have banned (禁止) the use of ChatGPT. In the US, for example, New York City public schools banned students and teachers from using ChatGPT on the district's networks.

The move comes out of worries that the tool could make it easier for students to cheat on homework. Some also worry that ChatGPT could be used to spread incorrect information.

Besides bans, teachers are making changes to their classes to avoid the use of ChatGPT. Some college teachers in the US try to include more speaking exams and handwritten papers instead of typed ones.

However, not all educators say "no" to ChatGPT. Some Canadian universities are making laws on its use, for both students and teachers. They have no plans to completely ban the tool so far.

Bhaskar Vira from the University of Cambridge, said that bans on AI software like ChatGPT are not sensible (明智的). "We have to know that AI is a tool people will use. What we need to do is ‘adapt our learning, teaching and examinations'. That way, we can be honest while using of the tool".

Can knots be a form of art? It is in China. It is used for decoration (装饰) on clothing or to hang on a wall. Skilled knot artists make knots that you might see sold in stores that you can take back with you. 

What Is a Chinese Knot?

A Chinese knot is a knot that is tied and woven (编织) from a single length of rope to be different shapes. Most knots have two cords (粗线) entering the knot from the top and two leaving from the bottom. Each kind of knot is named after its shape or the symbolic meaning that it carries.

Knot artists can use different colors, but they prefer deep red ones. The color red means good luck in China.

At first, people may have made them to record information before people started to write. One hundred thousand year old tools have been discovered that were probably used to tie and untie knots. 

It is known that they were used for artistic decoration and to express thoughts and feelings in the Tang Dynasty (618—907). The traditional art form was carried on by people as part of their culture.

Ancient and Modern Use of Artistic Knots

Even today, Chinese knots are rich in symbolic meaning, and they hold value when given as gifts or passed down through families. For example, in ancient times and even now, lovers may give a knot as a symbol of their love. The "true love knot" and the "double happiness knot" are given or used at weddings to express love and growing old together. 

Along with being symbolic gifts or messages, knots are still used if people wear traditional Chinese clothing. They are used as jewelry such as earrings and necklaces.

Without the television set，the radio and more importantly，the computer，we will {#blank#}1{#/blank#} have any fun in our homes today. However，the people in the past had their own clever {#blank#}2{#/blank#} of enjoying themselves. For example，they made music without the use of computers but with tools made from wood and animal skin.

Travel was simple at that time. Most of the people were {#blank#}3{#/blank#} boat makers and they could make boats in a variety of shapes and sizes for travelling along the rivers and in the oceans. With increased skills and {#blank#}4{#/blank#} ， the people learnt how to make the boats stronger against rains and storms.

Some things are basic for us nowadays，but the people in the past could live the lives to the full even without them. We should not look down on the wisdom of people long ago.

Dora and Annie were called to the teacher's office for breaking the glass apple on Mrs.Marley's desk.They sat opposite Mr.Barlow and they looked quite nervous.

"It was not!" Dora cried angrily.

Mr.Barlow stood up."Do you want to know what I think？" "Yes!" They said.

"I think Dora wanted to make the rainbow bigger and Annie tried to help." "Exactly!" Annie said.

"Not so fast，"Mr.Barlow said. "Annie，you thought you could make the rainbow better，and the apple fell and broke.Does that sound right？"

"So，we're both to blame，"Dora said.

"Yes.The real blame isn't in who broke the apple，"Mr.Barlow said. "It was in the fact that you both touched something that didn't belong to you."

"I guess we did，"Annie said.

"We should say sorry to Mrs.Marley，"Dora added.

"I think you both learned a valuable lesson，"Mrs.Marley said，smiling in the doorway.
