I'm a Chinese student studying in Canada. I have been a boarder(寄宿生) with the Carsons for more than a year and a half.

    The Carsons live in their own house, which has four bedrooms including the one in the basement(底层) which I live in. Judy does all the work in the house and Andrew is responsible for the work in the garden. When they go out in the evening, they often ask me to look after their children.

    Judy's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Morris, lived in another city. Judy was their only child and naturally they doted on(溺爱) Judy's children. They often sent the children presents.

    Last April Mr. Morris died. Now that Mrs. Morris was quite alone, I expected that Judy would want her to come and live with them. One day, Margaret told me grandma was coming to live with them and her daddy and mummy would want my room back. The news didn't surprise me and the next day I went to Judy and asked her about it. I said I couldn't think of living in their basement room any longer if it was needed for Mrs. Morris. Judy seemed surprised at first. Then she told me there was no deed for me to move, for they hadn't yet come to any decision about her mother coming to live with them. "Naturally I'm worried about my mother. She has been in poor health." She smiled sadly and added. "To be honest, Andrew and my mother have never got on well. We'll wait a bit and see what happens. Perhaps Moter will be all right living herself, of perhaps they will both change their minds."

    That was six months ago. During this time I've heard that Mrs. Morris has had two illnesses and that her health has got worse. A nursing home was mentioned once but Mrs. Morris refused to go there. So up to now she's still living alone and I'm still living in the basement room.

    Last summer I spent some time off with my mother in Beidaihe. We stayed there from July 15th to August 5th. It is really a wonderful place. It is one of the most famous summer resorts（避暑胜地）in China. The buildings there are tidy, with some trees and flowers around therm. It is famous for its beaches, so lots of tourists from all over the world go there every year.

    There are many interesting places, such as the Olympic Park, the Geziwo Park and the Tiger Rock Park. In the Olympic Park. there are some athletes' statucs（运动员的雕像）and champions' fingerprints and footprints. Everything in the park is about Olympics. The Geziwo Park becomes famous because it is one of the best places to watch the sunset（落日）. Thousands of people go to watch the sunset every day. People can also see different kinds of birds.

    We enjoyed ourselves there. We are hoping for the next holiday.

    Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was an Austrian composer and pianist. Many people think he was one of the best composers of music of all time.

    Mozart was born in Austria in 1756. He was educated by his father, a very good violinist. His father started to give him piano lessons when he was 4 years old. When he was 6, he went on his first musical tour of Europe. Mozart also wrote music. When he was only about 5 years old, he started to compose music. At the age of 8, he composed his first real song. He grew up to write some of his most beautiful music ever heard. However, he died when he was only 35 years old.

    Recently, Donald Trump has been chosen to be the Person of the Year by Time. But who is the Person of the Year in your heart?

    In my eyes, the Person of the Year must be British actor Alan Rickman. I love him because of his beautiful voice in the movie Alice in Wonderland. The most successful character he has made is Severus Snape in the Harry Potter movies, who loves Lily till the last second of his life. In 2016, he died at the age of 69. The author of Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling said he was a perfect actor and a wonderful man.

    The Person of the Year must be Antonio Manuel de Oliveira Guterres. He was the former premier of Portugal (葡萄牙总理). And now he is the new Secretary-General (秘书长) of the United Nations. Before him, eight persons have taken this job. In my opinion, the UN Secretary General always plays an important role in developing international relationships. I think that he is worth offering the job and will make something great to the world.

    I think Guo Chuan, the famous Chinese sailor, can be Person of the Year. Guo broke many world records with his sailing boat. He often sailed around the world alone. He had strong spirit. Whatever difficulties he met, he never gave up. He went missing at sea earlier this year. But he still lives on in my heart.

    The person I want to choose would be Teresa May, the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Since the UK left the European Union, many people thought that the UK would be in a mess. However, May made an effort to "save the UK". She has done a good job. It is said that she has dealt with the chaos (混乱) of the English political parties (政党). She has also solved a lot of problems and showed her abilities to the world. She has been praised as the second Margaret Thatcher (撒切尔) for her hard work.
